It's raining. Again. I have cabin fever. I've overthought.
Here we go...
What if all of this insanity is a bad flu vax?
Cover up by big pharma? China? Maybe they're in cahoots together? Perhaps all this is just a really big diversion from something else?
There is so much going on right now that just doesn't make sense.
I read an article that I can't find again, and in passing no less, how in China they start giving the seasonal flu shots in September. Same here and in Europe.
It sure would be interesting to know % of flu shots and who gets really sick from the virus.
Beginning of January, around the time Wuhon was unfolding, my dad was in the hospital for 3 weeks with pneumonia.
He literally went from being perfectly a-ok to :snap: collapsed and sick on the floor. Had a fever upon admitting but not again. Hospital couldn't find anything wrong. Lungs fine, no fever, but had horrible chills, and zero stamina. Never really had any coughing. Blamed his symptoms on diabetes, dehydration, and age. A week later continues getting worse finally re-admitted. He had a low fever and they said he had "a spot" of pneumonia in one of the lower lobes developing and treated accordingly along with PT to get strength and stamina back. Just within the last few weeks he says he's feeling like his old self again. He said when he was sick he had never felt that bad before.
I am not familiar with pneumonia. Does that sound pretty typical of a usual case of pneumonia? I ask because I remember him telling the nurses he got his flu shot mid Sept and was up-to-date on the pneumonia shots.

It doesn’t sound like a typical case of pneumonia, but they’re are different strains of pneumonia. When I was in my 20’s. I had walking pneumonia. I had a fever of 102 for days & could barely lift my head up from the pillow. It took almost 3 weeks until I felt myself. I was very weak. I remember sitting on my bed, folding a pile of laundry, this was about 2 weeks after I started pneumonia & it was such a feeling of accomplishment , because all I could do was stay in bed & sleep or relax, until I folded the laundry.

Well, we've never had pneumonia before so I can't really comment from experience or knowledge but whatever strain DH and I had last year knocked the stuffing out of us, hard. We were essentially 'down' for almost 3 months before we had the strength to do anything but walk out onto the porch and turn around, go right back in the house and lay down. I said last year, I've never been that sick in all my life....and no doubt it's one of the main reasons I'm so hyper-paranoid about the COVID19. TxGal, is your Dad still doing OK?

Pneumonia can be viral or bacterial. I've also seen chemically induced pneumonia.
Most walking pneumonia tends to be Mycoplasma. Streptococcus pneumoniae is the leading cause of bacterial pneumonia. Viral pneumonia is caused by several different viruses, like rhinoviruses, flu viruses, and the corona virus we currently have.

I’ve had pneumonia it’s bad but the influenza A I had in January was horrible! No flu shot this year and I’ve never been as sick as I was. For 2 days I could hardly walk to the bathroom I was so weak. Took me 3-4 weeks before I got back to semi-normal.

TxGal, is your Dad still doing OK? He's doing really, really well and wants (and is very ready) to go home. But, if he had to be anywhere through all this virus chaos, I'm glad he's where he is. Being a bachelor and hermit he doesn't really tend to eat balanced meals. They fix 3 solid meals a day and if he needs med care he'll get it very quickly. The down side is they are pretty much confined to their apartments...no going outside or social interaction either. I just read that lock down is continuing until the end of April.🙁

I guess I spoke too soon. Day before yesterday Dad was doing fine. Last night when I called he said he didn't feel well. I called his facility and asked if someone could check in on him. Long story short: He has pneumonia again and in the same spot too, waiting results from *the* swab, and he's been moved to another hospital that has an icu unit. Prayers would be very appreciated right now. I have no idea how I'm going to do this with everywhere and everything in lockdown, I can't get a rental car, I can't get motel reservations (he's two states away), I'm scared for him...waiting for the results, having to do rehab again, him there and me here. I wish we could have already have moved him here with us but he was so weakened from the first bout. Plan was to get him back on his feet, get him home, get his house on the market, and him moved closer to us this summer but now the world is upside down with this virus.
