I dare ya to top this one!
A local radio personality has gotten himself in a fix for repeatedly referring to PA's health secretary as "Sir" in an on-air interview.
Dr. Rachel Levine is transgender.
Pittsburgh's mayor responded to this disrespect by canceling a planned interview with the talk show host.
Numb looked at the pic of Levine accompanying a news story and said, "That's a man in a dress."
Unfortunately, she's no Caitlyn Jenner, lol.

I had to look up a pic of the doc. I've seen worse....
But it sounds like it was an audio-only call, so there were no visual cues, just a manly voice on the other end. Notice the article uses a transcript, but didn't include the audio...probably because anyone would understand the mistake if they heard it.
He apologized profusely as soon as he was called on it. What more can you expect? Of course he may be going away to "re-education camp" now, never to return to the business.

I was thinking the same thing. It always seems odd to me when M-to-F transgender people continue to speak in a male voice. I mean, they're trying so hard to look female; it seems like they would want to disguise their voice, too? (Like the singer from The Kinks, I can't understand why she walks like a woman but talks like a man, lol.) Although that would probably be difficult to maintain ... (mind you, I'm not saying they should; people should be able to talk any way they want, AFAIC).
So ordinarily I'd give the guy the benefit of the doubt for the reason you state, but this particular case is suspect because the radio host evidently has a history of being hostile to the LGBTQ community ... it's alleged that he once publically 'outed' a gay pastor, years ago, and the man committed suicide in response. So I'm not entirely sure it was an innocent mistake ...

It is difficult to live in a world where you don't know how to speak to a person without offending. What can you say? The only word I can think of would be terribly offensive, you can't say " it " Guess I will continue to put my foot in my mouth, but in the animal world, we have a stallion/gelding, boar/barrow,what are we supposed to say?

Absolutely! Agree with you 100%.
Once upon a time, I was manning the phones for Aunt Sally, to help people locate family members misplaced during Katrina.
This one individual kept calling in, and had the deepest voice. We had no info to give this person, who kept calling (there were 5 or 6 of us in the call center). The poor, obviously unwell person kept calling, and calling, and calling, even though we had no information on the person sought. After answering this person the second time, SHE became quite irate when I addressed her as "Sir."
"I am a woman!"
Well, lady, we didn't have visi-phones set up. How was I supposed to know?

Moi just loves that song! I'm off to search it out. Yeah yeah, no need for a character reference - eh?

I have no idea and your guess is as good as mine. There used to be a joke about the name of the surgical procedure, along the lines of adding a certain anatomical feature...
Not appropriate for this board.

I have no idea, but I just telling Numb the other day that you'd think, in light of this pandemic and the way it's sweeping nursing homes, that loving children would be scrambling to get their parents out of those places, right? "Come on Mom, you'll be safer in my home ..."
I'll bet not one in 1,000 has been "rescued."

Maybe so, maybe no. I can assure y’all that my ex wife’s mother would not have been safer in our home. I would have seen to that.

I got munched on years ago for "siring" a young woman, but nothing about her figure, mode of dress, hair style nor voice gave me a clue, and she was trimming 50 foot tall palm trees with a chain saw, which is NOT traditionally done by the ladies, so I could certainly take the correction with good grace but the nasty attitude got her no points with me.
If I ever get chastised over mistaking a switcheroo for a natural or vice versa, it is my intention to let it know that it is behind the times. Sex is now a matter of opinion, and everybody is entitled to their own opinion, me included......Joe
