We have had only one confirmed case to date, but now have five. Apparently someone had friends or family from California here for a visit, and they brought their COVID along to share.

I do like the mandated 14day travel quarantine. Hey the state puts up folks that can't afford it. It's really helped that and samaratian purse set up a hospital in the bush. Fish crews are hunkered down and medical care is right in the l st of the commercial fisheries. Ready to go and quarantining new crew. Working out.

So far, no cases in town or here at the park. Folks seem to be relaxing social distancing, they opened up the 'ad hoc' area last weekend and this one for off site folks to come camp and use the boat ramp. A couple nights ago on my evening stroll around the park I saw someone getting a suitcase out of a vehicle with CA plates.... it made me cringe on several levels.... Sure seems to me that people have pretty much had ENOUGH of this social distancing thing... bd

Our county has just under 3100 cases, think last death count was 89. Monday was 72 new and 3 deaths. Worst county on the west coast.

farmerjack41, why so many cases in your area? With only 1 case in our county I was just beginning to feel like I could do a tiny bit of shopping and socializing. Now I'm back to "wait and see" status.

We also had an out-of-stater show up with it this weekend. They won't tell us what state they came from, but probably Illinois since this is prime territory for Chicago residents' vacation homes. That's the one we know about. I wonder how many more there were. Restaurants also re-opened just in time for the long weekend, and everyone goes out to eat when they're on vacation.

Our numbers in our county are going down...ONLY 30,677 and the other county out east has 27,662. These are really high, frightening numbers! I'm so sick of sanitizing the mail and groceries...it' so much extra time and energy, but needs to be done. It gives me more peace of mind, that's about it.

wildhorseluvr, that is a difficult question to answer and be politicaly correct about it. The reservation is loaded with filth, loaded with drugs and booze. Off the reservation, 53% of the population is nonwhite, those folks tend to gather in large groups, to drink and visit. When they go to the grocery store mom, dad, six kids, and grandparents all go in. Most with out masks, have then tendency to cut in front of anyone else. Will say most of the deaths have been in nursing homes, people with underlying conditions. Of course agriculture is the big employer.

Who said you have to be politically correct on here? 😁 Yeah, I forgot about the res. Agricultural workforce would play a big part too. Add everything together and it would definitely drive the numbers up.

Our current total county case number is 763, with 32 deaths, 19 people currently hospitalized. As of yesterday, 29 of those cases were in my community.
Case numbers seemed to be going down between May 6-16 & we were ready to breathe a sigh of relief, but numbers have suddenly shot up again, averaging 10/day. Deaths do seem to be slowing down though thankfully, only one in the past 10 days. News says that of the 32 deaths, 29 were in nursing homes.
Looking at the graph, it appeared that the curve had begun to at least flatten beginning a couple weeks ago. I suspect we might see a surge since things have begun to reopen (and people around here aren't big on wearing masks or social distancing. <eyeroll>

I see masks on older people, very few on anybody 50 or under. Social distancing is starting to break down. Hopefully, with warmer weather the curve will continue to be flat, but I'm really worried about next flu season.

Yesterday morning I had to pick up my mail at the PO, so went early and made quick stops at a couple of stores before many people showed up. Surprisingly for this area, it looked like over half the people were wearing masks, and those wearing them seemed to be of a wide age range, not just the elderly. I wasn't wearing one because I don't have a cloth mask (nor do I think they do much to protect *me*) and don't feel the risk is great enough at present to break out my stash of N-95s that cost me $5 or more each. I'm saving those for next winter. Thankfully I don't live in an area where people would scream at me for not wearing one...no comments, no glares either. Although most store employees were wearing masks, they touched or shifted them constantly, and some pulled the mask down below their mouth each time they spoke to a customer. Don't see the point in them wearing one at all.
I expect a bit of a surge in cases here soon, but maybe with the weather warming up we'll squeak by. Next fall (starting Sept/Oct?) is when I believe we'll see a problem.

DH & I had already begun a soft 'lockdown' last November, before C-19 even hit the US, because of the flu and our bouts w/ pneumonia earlier in the year. It's common practice for us every flu season; we stop eating out, start being more diligent w/ the hand sanitizer, less shopping trips etc. But now that C-19 is in the mix, I predict we'll have to go back to wearing masks if numbers start to get bad again. (Hopefully we can stop wearing masks before flu season starts again!)
