Saw a spine specialist yesterday.
C-4 through C-7 are toast. Like burnt toast.
Discs are gone, bone spurs, nerve tunnels are all but shut down.
Titanium spacers are what they are calling for.
Recovery time is 3 months without being able to to my job, then up to 12 months for everything to be "back to normal". If I quit smoking, could be 8 months.
I know God's got me. He always has, and always will......... Slightly freaked out. Prayers for clairity, direction, wisdom to make His choices. Please

laurazone5, That's some pretty drastic stuff, if you can, get a second opinion. Of course we'll be praying to the best possible outcome.

..............If you have the time you might look into starting an App for SSI , given the fact that it will only be approved after your surgery is completed and you're involved in rehab to re establish a level of normal activity and movement . ...............Also , look into taking out a Disability Ins. policy prior to your surgery ! Of course , there maybe a waiting period of some length . A friend had this Ins. and it paid off his new truck , new tractor , and several other items he was making monthly payments on ! Hope you get to feeling better and all goes well with whatever decision you make . , fordy

Probably the least invasive. Success rate is 80% or thereabouts at the five year mark.

laurazone5, when I'm in a tough spot and at a loss for words like this, a simple cry of ......... "HELP ME, Please!" will do the trick.

laurazone5, prayers for you, for the right physicians & the best outcome possible. I had a major back operation a little over 8 years ago. I let it be for way too long. Mine was L4 & L5, lower back area. My legs would get sharp, shooting pains while on my walks & just generally when walking & my feet would go numb on & off. I was caring for my ill daughter at the time I had the worst pain. After she finished her treatments & went back to work I saw a surgeon. I had severe spinal stenosis & he said it would only get worse if I didn’t have a fusion & decompression. I was retired at that time, so work wasn’t a problem. P/T lasted 3 X a week for three months. Was it a rough one, yes. But after seeing two surgeons & many other doctors before them, I knew it had to be done. My surgeon said “ if you don’t have the operation you’ll end up in a wheel chair.” That’s what got me to have the operation. My faith was in God, as is yours, so give it all to Him & expect healing miracles! 🙏

woody, Same here. If I don't do the surgery, I will lose both of my arms and won't be able to hold my head up. That's why I am doing it. I do not want to be a burden on my young (33,32,30) year old children

I believe Jesus has got you with this laurazone5, I went in for the operation with my strong faith in God. Was it easy, no, but like you I felt I had no choice and was thankful I went to the Surgeon that I did choose. I still can’t crouch down without being close to something to pull myself up, but I am running again, no sharp pains or numb feet. A couple surprises I encountered. After the surgery my surgeon came in & said “it’s all good & you even gained an inch,” so was then 5’7”, within a year I shrunk to 5’4”. I believe this has caused the falls I’ve encountered last year & this year. I’m off balance. I now am going in November for a reverse shoulder repair, from a fall while walking on our beach. My other arm had rotator cuff surgery years ago. Hang in there & I know your faith will pull you through all of it.🙏
