European Union (EU) politicians are threatening to sanction U.S. journalist Tucker Carlson for interviewing Vladimir Putin, despite European journalists often interviewing the Russian leader and his officials. Guy Verhofstadt, a senior Member of the European Parliament (MEP), President of the European Movement, and former Prime Minister of Belgium, denounced Carlson as “Putin’s mouthpiece” and “an enemy of everything the U.S. stands for.” more at link Yep, they are ticked at Tucker!

I stole this off Xness:
"Whoever thought having Biden do a press conference after the Putin interview needs to be fired.
Putin: "Let me give you a half-hour, college-level lecture on Russia's 900-year political history from memory."
Biden: "The Mexican president should open the border with Gaza."

I look at it this way, Carlson asked questions, Putin answered, it's up to the readers/listeners to decide for themselves as to whether they agree or disagree with the answers. As opposed to nearly every "journalist" interview that includes either an agreeable comment from the interviewer or a "gotcha" followup. In other words, the main stream journalists are injecting their own agenda into what should otherwise be considered an even handed interrogatory.

www.lewrockwell.com/2024/02/ron-paul/tucker-slayed-the-mainstream-media-dragon/Tucker Slayed the Mainstream Media Dragon By Ron Paul, MD There has been much written and said about Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week. As of this writing the video on Twitter alone has been viewed nearly 200 million times, making it likely the most-viewed news event in history. Many millions of viewers who may not have had access to the other side of the story were informed that the Russia/Ukraine military conflict did not begin in 2022, as the mainstream media continuously reports, but in fact began eight years earlier with a US-backed coup in Ukraine. The US media does not report this because they don’t want Americans to begin questioning our interventionist foreign policy. They don’t want Americans to see that our government meddling in the affairs of other countries – whether by “color revolution,” sanctions, or bombs – has real and deadly consequences to those on the receiving end of our foreign policy. To me, however, perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Tucker Carlson interview with Putin was the US mainstream media reaction. As Putin himself said during the interview, “in the world of propaganda, it’s very difficult to defeat the United States.” Even a casual look at the US mainstream media’s reporting before and after the interview would show how correct he is about that. In the days and weeks before the interview, the US media was filled with stories about how horrible it was that Tucker Carlson was interviewing the Russian president. There was the danger, they all said, that Putin might spread “disinformation.” That Putin might say something to put his country in a better light was, they were saying, reason enough to not interview him. With that logic, why have journalism at all? Everyone interviewed by journalists – certainly every world leader – will attempt to paint a rosy picture. The job of a journalist in a free society should be to do the reporting and let the people decide. But somehow that has been lost. These days the mainstream media tells you what to think and you better not dispute it or you will be cancelled! more at link

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13085999/Putin-Tucker-Carlson-interview-softball-questions.htmlRussian President Vladimir Putin has claimed he 'didn't get complete satisfaction' from his interview with Tucker Carlson as the fired Fox News host failed to challenge him. Putin, 71, appeared on Russian state TV Wednesday, sitting down for an exchange with propagandist Pavel Zarubin. 'To be honest, I thought he would be more aggressive and ask tough questions,' the autocrat said of 54-year-old Carlson. 'And I wasn’t just ready for that, I wanted it, because it would have given me the opportunity to respond sharply in kind, which, in my opinion, would have added certain specificity to our conversation. But he chose a different tactic.' Putin then went on to describe Carlson's passivity.

I admit to not having watched the Carlson interview, but I've read many articles describing it. It seems to me that Carlson didn't go there to be an opposing voice, he went there to hear from Putin in his own words, which he did.
Carlson isn't an official diplomat there to negotiate anything, but just shed some light on the thinking of the Russian tyrant. Letting him speak at length did just that.
That Putin didn't get a chance to be confrontational shows his angst in being unable to show himself as a tough guy.

He's not a good guy but does anyone here think Zelensky is either? No, Putin is not a good guy but sort of fascinating…like watching a cobra. I didn’t know anything about Zelensky initially (when all this began) but started doing a bit of research and was less than impressed. The few Ukrainians I “know” (internet only) spoke well of him so I withheld judgement for a time, but I’m convinced they only hear what Zelensky wants them to hear. From what I’ve learned, it appears Zelensky’s government is possibly the most corrupt on earth. I’m inclined to believe it. I love the Ukrainian people and support them wholeheartedly, but also believe there are a good many decent Russian people who just want to live in peace. Too bad the leaders of some of these countries can’t have duels and leave the people out of it. Might solve all the problems, at least for awhile.
