Just seems too late...I'm for the 6 wks ban but I'm also afraid of the millions of women who'd rather kill their babies than have a great economy & secure border, etc.

He can propose all he wants, the feds kicked it to the states.
It's just a political ploy.

From what Trump is saying, abortion is now all about elections. Nope, it's not.

It's not about the actual procedure, it's about a woman having control over her own body. He's hoping that he can sway the vote from those who will ONLY vote for Biden because of a woman's rights to her own body..
It's all political.

Guess that baby doesn't count at all? No matter the gestational age?
I realize this is definitely about politics, but 16 weeks is more liberal than Germany, Finland or many other European countries.

In our house, a baby is a baby from the minute it’s conceived.
People cry when they miscarry. I wonder why; “oh yes it’s a baby”.
Trump is a total weakling for what he did. You either stand with God or you don’t.
But we have no choice in this election at all. Even the Lord said we had to be wise as the wicked.
“Matthew 10:16 : “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”

If you are not in political power, you have no political power. I don't care for the 16 week compromise, but consider what your political opponents want...

Trump would be a lot smarter to just explain that the federal government has no voice in the abortion matter, that SCOTUS has given that decision back to the states where it was before Roe v Wade, then refuse to comment on it further. Unfortunately, like when he was in office, he's listening to some real dopes.

“In our house, a baby is a baby from the minute it’s conceived.” Absolutely, the Bible is very clear on this. One day, 1 week, 9 months…it’s a child at each stage.

SCOTUS kicked abortion back to the states, because there was no Federal law, if I read Dobbs correctly.

Jolly, The fact that there was no federal law regarding abortion is why the Warren court dreamed up the "penumbra" that somehow specifically allowed for abortion, and that states couldn't arbitrarily forbid it. With Dobbs, SCOTUS is saying "leave us out of it, it's not in the Constitution for us to decide". Basically, Federalism at work, ensuring states rights. I believe before Wade, all states had laws against abortion, but since Wade it's become so commonplace that the various states all seem to have some type of restrictions, some tight, some up to time of birth. But, the Genie is out of the bottle and I doubt it'll ever be put back in.

Ozarks Tom, which is why I say this is all a political stunt. NOW if he was running for Gov. of a state that has banned abortion all together THEN his "compromise" would have weight. The simple fact that he walked back his original position, tells me he is on the floor looking for 'scrap votes'. That's not a good sign for America.

. Trump is a total weakling for what he did. You either stand with God or you don’t. Naw. He sat the SCOTUS, because he knew, they would kick it back to the states. He's talking out his neck, hoping that he could play on 'emotions' to get those scrap votes. Trump voters know this is his way of picking up some votes so Biden doesn't win (LOL like it's going to be a fair election, but let's play along just for funsies). No one will NOT vote for Trump because of his 'verbal compromise on the campaign trail".

Interviewer: What are you principles on abortion?
Average politician: What would you like them to be?
I think it was back in the 80's when I first heard the term "situational ethics". At first I was confused, as to me it seemed an oxymoron, ethics don't change depending on situations. Well, I've come to understand just how naive I was. We live in a world where the people we depend on not just for our security, but our economy for their decisions, and those decisions are blatantly based on holding their finger to the wind.
When MAGA (Make America Great Again) is used as a pejorative, should someone using it in that manner be also able to claim to be a patriot? When the age in weeks at which you can murder a baby varies from state to state, but still accepted, are we living in and ethical society? Throw in the whole trans-gender BS, and I think God owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.
