Really needing some prayer support here. I really dislike flying as it is and now with the latest crash and the concerns for the flight safety here in the US I am doubly nervous. I am in the position of having to fly not once but twice in the next month. We are headed to Dallas next week for the birth of our first grandchild and possibly staying through Thanksgiving, and then going back for a week at Christmas.
There is also another fly in the ointment, as it were. About 2 weeks ago I got a notice to appear for jury duty the day we were supposed to leave! I still can't believe it. I requested a delay (they allow you a one-time request), but haven't heard back.

Call the clerk..confirm that your request was received.
Yes, pray is always a need.

Have you ever, even once heard of someone being dinged for one failure to report? I had a friend who threw every one she got in the garbage and never heard a peep. For 20 years. Go have fun, don't worry. Their problem, not yours. Now about the flying. I admit I share the same dislike of it but I really have a reason. I rountinely get sick. Me and the kid in the next seat. It's so embarassing. The only way to avoid it is not to eat for at least a day before going.

Since you have not been picked for a jury yet, they are usually very accommodating about putting it off. I understand why you are nervous. I used to have panic when we had to fly but finally got over it. It really is safer than driving but am still glad not to have to fly anymore. I will certainly pray for you.

It will all work out. What my daughter will also do it take catnip. It calms the nerves. Prayer support given.

Prayer sent for trust and faith. I fully understand your apprehension. I've flown once and don't ever intend to do it again. Corn-pickin' high and tater-diggin' deep is my limit.

Well I got my request for postponement accepted. One less stresser!
However, with the events today I've gone from doubly nervous to downright panicky. I have less than a week to talk myself down.
Thanks for the prayers everyone. Means more than you can know.

Used to be me. Then got a job where I had to fly to neighboring states pretty frequently. Flew SWA & sat in the seats at the front that face the other passengers...I couldn't 'white knuckle' it & look all distressed when facing everyone, that got me over it, I think.
In your case keep thinking of yur b'baby & how great it will be to see the new one. Prayers & good thoughts for a safe, fun trip.

Our oldest ds works for the airlines and we fly for free or close to it and there are so many places I would love to go!

I was still white knuckled the last time we flew but I came a long way. Flying to Ireland and back helped. It was a very smooth ride, Delta, both ways. I knew if we ever wanted to cross the ocean we had to fly. My husband is a very casual flyer. He flew so much in his job that he would go to sleep as soon as the airplane took off. I always took a good book and that helped. I am so excited for you to be having a little girl grandbaby. We have one. I was out buying her some clothes this afternoon because she is coming next week for Thanksgiving. I hope you will post a picture of her!
