Ok, I don't see corned beef in square cans around here but we do find corned beef hash in #2 or so cans. That, too, is salty but quite edible made into patties and browned or (and this is a favorite) mixed with a bit of barbecue sauce or Sweet Baby Ray's and used as a filling for individual meat pies - called pasties in some parts of the country. I use pie dough, cut in large squares, put a couple of tablespoons of the beef mix in the middle, fold over to make a triangular pie, seal the edges and bake until golden. We like those.

sugarspinner that does sound tasty... made pasties from scratch ONCE and decided that was way too much work... what you describe sounds very doable - thanks for the idea. bd
