Mari , I never thought of making pork burgers, will have to try that. I have been planning to make breakfast sausage as I don’t like any of the 3 brands offered here. Want to share your recipe? Yep, will stick it here and post over on the recipe thread as well. This guy was our inspiration... I've tweaked his recipe just a tad for us: Notes:
*We typically use what is called pork shoulder (bone-in) -- he just picked up a couple for $1.49/lb so guess what we are doing tomorrow? We once found pork end loin roasts (bone-in) for $1.29/lb. We save the bones (which obviously still have some meat attached) and boil them down and then can the broth for soups, etc. *We are using a manual grinder we purchased recently. *We do not use his method of making/freezing the patties. I hand shape them individually on wax paper then pop in the freezer on cookie sheets. Once frozen, I put however many we desire into bags and then vac-seal them. *The way ours come out -- they are very lean so we end up frying them in a little regular olive oil in the cast iron skillets.

Thank you, Mari. That looks pretty close to what I’m looking for. 🙂 One of the 3 stores in my former town had sausage just the way I like it. Only one grocery store here, they have 3 brands of breakfast sausage. One is passable but on the blah side, other two I don’t care for at all.

I am assuming (you know what that means!) that you are possibly purchasing ground pork then mixing the herbs/spices in. I would suggest that you let it sit in the fridge a day to let the flavours "marry" before forming and freezing...

No point in making more work for myself at present. Once I finish decluttering from my move I hope to be a little more adventurous in the kitchen again but using the ground pork should make this recipe fairly easy to try. Thanks for the tip.

Mari , Yes, the crock pot. I tend to use the term *slow cooker* on the internet's so everyone knows what I'm talking about. Kind of like Cokes, soda or pop, LOL. Internet searches work better with slow cooker as Crock pot is a registered trade name. I used this recipe from Allrecipies www.allrecipes.com/recipe/16352/slow-cooker-beef-stroganoff-i/We used a 2-3 lb. roast. 2 cans of regular cream of mushroom soup 1 can sliced mushrooms. and sour cream in place of cream cheese. Our version made 4, maybe 5 servings. fixitguy, I made this yesterday and it turned out great. When I was reading reviews at Allrecipes one person said how their son "messed" up a bit and tossed the noodles right into the crockpot when adding the sour cream/cream cheese so I did the same thing. Tossed the noodles in with the cheese/sour cream, left it cook for about 20 minutes and it turned out great. With enough leftovers for 2 more meals.

Tried to buy some ground pork yesterday to make sausage, none to be had around here this week. Will have to wait until they get some in again.

Tried the reduced sodium roasted turkey breast from the deli at Hy-Vee. First time to try the reduced sodium version. I liked it much better. The regular is too salty for me, and I like salt. I had a fat sandwich with it, some potato chips, and two pumpkin bars. Not real big on pumpkin but they were a good change of pace. This package of bars will hold me for another year.
Did two loads of laundry on top of the two I did yesterday. One more to go tomorrow and then I will be totally caught up. Got behind with no water for almost three weeks, We did do two loads at our daughter's house a couple of weeks ago.

We had seen Julia prepare the following on one of her shows. Since then, my husband ordered "The French Chef Cookbook" from AbeBooks so he could do the same. Suprêmes de Volaille à Blanc - actually he prepared the variation which is titled: Suprêmes de Volaille à l'Ecossaise. (Chicken Breasts Poached in Butter, with Wine and Cream Sauce with Aromatic Vegetables) Served with a side of his slight variation of her Risotto recipe. It was lovely...

Started Herb Butter Chicken in the slow cooker this morning. We're eating leftover Rice Chili Frito Casserole today & we'll have the chicken tomorrow. Most things taste better the next day. I was watching Farmhouse on Boone on YT last night and she was making some slow cooker meals that looked scrumptious. She recently had her 8th child, home birth! I see why she likes her slow cooker & Instant Pot. I really need to start using mine more so I went hunting in the deep freezer for what meat I can use to make a few meals. I found the chicken (drums), a pork roast that will need to be thawed for a day or so before cooking and some beef strip steaks. That's probably enough to carry us for a week, easily. ETA: I cooked a sausage, potatoes, onions & peppers skillet meal yesterday with the intention of having leftovers but it was so dang good, there weren't any! We made P.I.G. hogs of ourselves.

Couple days ago I made chicken tortilla soup and used a quart of canned chicken breast. Had plenty of chicken leftover so next day made some chicken salad. Still have some chicken left so today will be an experimental chicken noodle casserole. I want to mix in some canned carrots, add some parmesan cheese and top it with some french fried onions. Hope it tastes good because I'm real sure I'll have leftovers lol.

Was hungry for spaghetti a couple days ago so made sauce with hot Italian sausage. Had 2 meals of that, will freeze the last of the sauce and pull it out again in a couple weeks. Bought a beef roast on sale so will put that in the oven this evening. Probably will cut in half and cook half unseasoned for the dogs and half with seasoning for me. That’ll give me several more no effort meals.
I have a couple green peppers I need to use up so am going to try Stuffed Pepper Soup for some lunches, and also bought some Andouille sausage to make a batch of Spicy Red Beans and Rice. I freeze the beans in single servings, then microwave and put over fresh rice for easy meals. Very tasty after eating tuna on crackers or PB&Js for a week.
