The J&J vaccine is made from an adenovirus, not a coronavirus: www.sciencenews.org/article/covid-19-johnson-and-johnson-vaccine-one-shot-fda-authorization"Researchers engineered a common cold virus called adenovirus 26 to carry instructions for making the coronavirus’s spike protein into human cells. The human cells make the viral protein, which goads the immune system to make antibodies and train immune cells to attack the coronavirus, should the person encounter it later. The engineered adenovirus 26, which has been altered so that it can’t cause disease, is the base for other vaccines made by Janssen, including an approved Ebola vaccine, and experimental vaccines against Zika, HIV and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Together, trials of those vaccines have tested the engineered virus in more than 193,000 people, including children, pregnant women and immunocompromised people. Those trials have shown that the technology has a good safety record." That all sounds good, however: apnews.com/article/johnson-johnson-1-shot-dose-cleared-f13611719ad8d1655ed7b354af75a9a9According to this article, "It’s the same technology the company [J&J] used in making an Ebola vaccine, and similar to COVID-19 vaccines made by AstraZeneca and China’s CanSino Biologics... The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are made with a different technology, a piece of genetic code called messenger RNA that spurs cells to make those harmless spike copies... Novavax uses a still different technology, made with lab-grown copies of the spike protein..." "Still other countries are using “inactivated vaccines,” made with killed coronavirus by Chinese companies Sinovac and Sinopharm."
Two questions: Only the last two expose the entire coronavirus; the others target one protein. What happens if a mutant variety emerges without the spike protein? Which vaccine is the CCP leadership using?

Excellent research... but China ? If they can not control the problem in their own country and the Covid came from them how can their vaccines be trusted? They have never been concerned with saving people but with destroying them.

All corona viruses have spike proteins. The "crown" gives them their name. As for efficacy of the vaccine across strains, I dunno. Don't think anybody else does, either. Too early in the ballgame.

Jolly, When I got the first vaccine last week, I got the usual sore arm, much more sore than a flu shot and where the shot was given, I started to itch. The area where the vaccine was given had a distinct red circle, not large, lasted 5 days or so....but my temperature always runs low. When I went in for the shot it was 97.5 and then the next day, all day it was 99.5 and I felt blah. I itched that spot for days. I haven't heard anyone who had a itchy reaction...okay so, I'm afraid of getting the second vaccine, being I feel I had some sort of reaction that made me so itchy and a slight fever. With one shot, I read there is about a 60% advantage with the first shot...in your opinion is it safe enough with just the one Pzifer vaccine? Can you tell I'm trying to avoid the 2nd shot?

Is the spike protein vital to the coronavirus -- can it survive, reproduce, infect people without it? Other coronaviruses are doing something to escape immune system: www.genengnews.com/news/seasonal-coronaviruses-spike-proteins-evolve-to-evade-immune-responses/Does every immune system target the same part of the SARS-CoV-2 virus? Is there a way to tell what part of the virus the immune system is reacting to when naturally infected? Did China choose the old-fashioned vaccine because it allows for additional targets for antibody resistance?

Typical reaction. Nothing unusual. A single dose of Pfizer is typically 50%+ effective. Did you take some tylenol and benadryl after the shot? The second vaccine shot is up to you. I had no problems. Not nothing.😄 Everybody is different, so mull it over, as to what you want to do. Might even check your antibody level, to see what you have. Wife took the Moderna yesterday. Last night, she was texting her rheumatologist at 10pm. B/P 164/113, Pulse 171 with lots of skips, SaO2 91%. Took two Clonidine as rescue meds. Scared me...I thought she was in A-fib. If you remember, her sister had a heckuva reaction to her first Pfizer shot. I doubt she takes the second one.

Thanks Jolly...I definitely wouldn’t take the second vaccine if I felt so badly like your DW after the first one! I’m mulling it over...I do worry more about my older sister who has AFIB and had a stroke last year. She got the vaccine in her bad arm, that still has little movement...no redness, no sore arm at all. I think because she really can’t feel in that arm yet.
I’ll be praying and asking God for direction...I do appreciate your advice and thoughts.

woody, your sister had the same reaction to the covid vaccine that I had to my last seasonal flu shot. The doctor told me not to get anymore vaccinations. That's why I'm not getting this one. Just so you know, the feeling eventually came back in my arm (took more than a month) and it's fine now.

Numbness for the longest time afterward.
She decided not to take any more vaccines after that. She's not able to make her own decisions now, and I don't know if my brother is going to make her take the Wuhan jab or not.

If he's considering getting her the shot, it would be best to ask the doctor.

The last time that I got a flu shot I had horrible swelling in the arm too, I was pretty thin at the time and my arm swelled so much that none of my shirts fit! I had no strength in the arm either which made transferring residents that weighed 200-300 lbs difficult. It was mostly force of will at that point 🙂 I was sick for months afterwards, fevers, swollen lymph nodes, sweats, etc. It felt like the flu. I sincerely hope that your brother takes her past reactions to vaccines into account. Nicodemus's fiancee works at a nursing home and besides them counting unrelated deaths as Covid19 deaths (in one situation a lady fell off the toilet, hit her head, had a contusion and a stroke, all counted as a Covid death. She never had a positive test.) Many frail residents have died after the vaccination, most after the second jab.

gayle, I've been getting the flu shot since in my 20's and just a slight sore arm. Last year, no sore arm at all? My sister had NO reaction to the first Covid vaccine, it was me who had the sore and itchy arm. Sore arm for 2 days and a slight fever. But the itching at the shot area is still a bit red from itching it! It still itches. Still plan on going for the second shot, but am not all that comfy.

In taking on the care of the parents, my brother's challenges have been Herculean. I finally learned not to dictate or demand. I don't want his job! Now that it's just Mom, I let him tell me what's going on and how he feels about it. No advice is sought, and no unsolicited advice given.
At this point, Mom doesn't know what's going on. She lives in her world. They know her there, and they all get along. If he elects to jab her, then she gets the jab. I continue praying.

From my research, I have yet to find anyone who states that the Wuhan virus itself has been isolated.
Can anyone direct me to a link (from a valid source) that says otherwise?
TIA
