I use the black and decker 20v. Light weight and it gets it done.

Well, it seems I also needed a battery-op weedwhacker, as I couldn't get our gas one running the other day, and Numb isn't up to yanking the cord a kajillion times in his weakened condition! So he went to Harbor Freight yesterday and bought me a Bauer whacker and miniature chainsaw for a total of $250. They both use the same battery, which will be handy! Maybe I'll find that I need a bigger saw eventually, or perhaps this little guy will do the job. I'll try them out this weekend when I (presumably ... lol) have some time off, and report back.

Most problems with small engines nowadays, can be traced back to the gas being left in them and crud build-up in the carb. Their are videos on how to troubleshoot the engines and how to clean the carb. But the darn carbs are so cheap on something like a weedeater (my ECHO was $14) some folks jyst change them out.

Yes, Numb usually just swaps them out. He says it's the ethanol in the gas that cruds them up! He uses the expensive ethanol-free stuff in the chainsaw.

I think the weed wacker just needs the carb screws adjusted by the way it runs. Or the carb diaphram is hardened up. I run the gas out of them but even a little trace seems to kill the rubber bits. Once I get enough poison in me maybe Ill be pain free enough to fix it.
Or just replace the $10 carb.
Until then... batteries for the win.

All this talk about carburetors reminds me of a very old joke ...
Wife comes in the house and says, "Honey, the car won't start. I think there's water in the carburetor."
"Water in the carburetor? Nonsense! Don't be silly. Where is it?"
"In the swimming pool ..."

OMG, I LOVE my li'l saw! It works great! It's very lightweight and nicely balanced; I could run this thing all day. Was surprised how many cuts I was able to make on one battery. By the time it died, I was ready for a coffee break anyway! I came in the house and left this review on the Harbor Freight website:
My sign boss was supposed to swing by to pick up some defunct panels today. Numb told him to hurry as he didn't want to miss watching me running a chainsaw. He texted back to ask if I was wearing a hockey mask, lol.
