Another good guess. You really have to taste them to tell the difference. Sweetness/Tartness

I'd have guess Gala too.

Another good guess. You really have to taste them to tell the difference. Sweetness/Tartness Haven’t tried them myself yet. DD said they might not be quite ripe yet but currently are about an equal mix of sweet/tart. She said she thought they’d make great pie apples. Her 2 big trees are loaded. She wasn’t able to get the trees sprayed early enough so apples off one tree are wormy, the other tree there are *some* worms. Told her if she only wanted a few I’d take the rest. 🙂 Next year if sprayed and pruned properly, they should put out quite a crop.

I’d thought perhaps Fuji or Gala but that’s just a wild guess. Don’t know much about gardening.

I don't think they are Fuji, the fuji's around here are kind of lopsided. But then I don't know much about apples except what I like/don't like and I do know what a yellow delicious looks like lol.
EDIT. I just looked on a local orchard page and your apple looks like a honey crisp.

Gala is my first thought.
And the "other Apple ID" never even crossed my mind, lol. I was expecting to open the thread to a photo of apples that needed ID'd.

It really depends on your locality and the age of the tress that will give you a good idea what these are. IOW, what's the most common of those guesses that grow in your area, that'll likely be the one.

I'd ask the neighbor's, I'd bet they have had a few.

I'd ask the neighbor's, I'd bet they have had a few. Already did, they didn’t know. The previous owner of DD’s house was reportedly not only unsociable but the neighbors were literally afraid to even talk to him. (They are so happy DD is living there!)

Some of the most common apples in our area: Braeburn, Fuji, Granny Smith, Gala, Jonagold, Jonathan, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, and Rome. Newer apple varieties are also available, including Pink Lady and Honey Crisp.

I just think it fortunate y'all have some nice trees. I'm envious.😊 When I was growing up, Dad planted apple, pear and plum (Italian prune) trees in part of the horse pasture. To me a yard seems like it’s missing something if it doesn’t have a fruit tree or 2. There were 2 apple trees on my property but the former owners, who were only here 2 yrs, cut both down. 😡 I hope to plant 2-4 semi-dwarf apple and peach trees next summer. Other plans are for grape vines, a raspberry patch and an asparagus patch. 🙂 This is a great area for growing fruit…nights don’t get cold/freeze like in the high desert and we have about an extra month of growing season. I was shocked when DD’s neighbor told me her apple trees were only 4-5 yrs old…they’re huge, and simply loaded with fruit. Never saw any like that in central Oregon. I’m hoping there’s enough room for trees in my side yards, if not I’ll stick them in the middle of my front yard if need be. I intend to have fruit trees!
