Got my gas bill for December, even with the colder weather my bill was less than $8 higher this month. I turned my thermostat down 1* which wasn’t even noticeable and am pretty happy the bill barely increased. Might try turning it down 1* again. Waiting to see how much my power bill went up.

The heat pump has been fixed so now I'll see how it affects the electric price. Had the propane filled after 1 month of using the gas logs 42.5 gallon at $3.39/gallon. The electric bill was $100.30, but I have never been able to figure out how much it actually costs me each month - one month is estimated and one is an actual reading. I tried one estimated month to figure it out but it's almost impossible because of all the add-on's that they stuff into the bill. The last that I heard oil was running around $5/gallon. Right now I have 1/2 tank and I want to stretch that out as long as I can. So the thermostat is set to 68* at night and the oil runs. During the day if the outside temps are below 40* I use the gas logs and the space heater to keep the living room warm. If outside temps are above 40* I'll use the heat pump. What a stupid, stupid game we all have to play.

Strange weather here for January, it was 64 yesterday, same forecast for today, then into the upper 30's. Cleaned out the fireplace insert a couple days ago and haven't started a fire since. I'll start one tonight though, as they're predicting a high of 39.
Our thermostat is set at 68, and the furnace rarely comes on. The added insulation in the attic and the replacement windows I installed a few years ago are paying off.
