So the other day a guy went into a gay club and shot a bunch of people, killing 5 and injuring some. Since then it has been portrayed as a hate crime, with media babbling about the shooter's Grandpa being a MAGA Republican from California and how the LGBTQ community is being targeted by hateful rhetoric from the right. Today the Denver Post, Axios and other platforms reported that the attorneys for the shooter filed paperwork that the shooter is nonbinary and identifies as they/them. Wonder how long it takes until this disappears from the news? Local police said that the shooter was known to the LGBTQ community. 2 men, one of whom was former military, subdued the shooter until police arrived.

Talk on my ex brew clubs page is that the Army dood that subdued the shooter owns a brewery. His wife actually does the brewing part....

The guy obviously has several screws loose. A year ago he threatened to blow up his mother's house with her in it. Arrested, but charges dropped for some reason, and therefor no felony record. He shouldn't have had a gun, but thanks to the prosecutor's laxity he did. An avoidable tragedy.
Two things: We need prosecutors who will follow the law, and we need mental institutions to keep the dangerously mental ill away from the public.

Dad is a porn actor, Dick Delaware. Also has been a MMA fighter...(dad, not son). Curiouser and curiouser! Regarding the shooter's ability to purchase firearms, apparently in Colorado if charges are dropped the case is sealed, preventing the state's "Red Flag" law from working. Sure seems like a convoluted way of doing things.

Boy oh boy imaging show and tell day in elementary... Once a year it the topic was your parents employment... So kid brought in their parent and showed us what they did at work. Sometimes there were photos.
I learned farmers are some of the hardest worker. No days off, no snow days or holidays. They never took vacations together as a family.
See I remember this cause I honestly thought my dad cut cardboard and I said so and the teacher challenged me and I stood my ground.. ... Dad dealt with carbide cutters. He designed specs for the mainly auto builders and then he put the manufacturing out to bid then he sold the cutters. Due to parent teacher meeting dad explained he did not make a living cutting cardboard.

Lots and Lots of kids have parent(s) that have 'less than mainstream' jobs, and don't go out shooting up nightclubs.
I personally battle with mental health conditions, so I have a bit of an inside on this topic.
When I am battling, and call my GP, 99% of the time, I see the PA, 10 min visit, pills. Trying to find a therapist, HA. IF you can find one, that takes your insurance, you will wait NO LESS than 60 days, and up to 6 months for an appointment. That's just for a 'general' therapist. If you have a specific diagnosis, it could be up to a year. For me? The portion left over after insurance covers, is 100.00 per trip. Usually 30-45 min. It will take 2-3 (for me) visits to come to the conclusion that (1) yes this is a good fit or (2) this is not a good fit. THEN The process starts all over.
There is no "emergency room" for a mental health crisis / breakdown.
October of this year, I genuinely thought I was having a heart attack at work. Every symptom present. My BP was 180/140, etc. 3 hours later in an ER bed, the ER doc comes in and says "Your EKG is excellent, your BP is now down to 120/80, you passed all your heart attack tests. You had a real bad panic attack. NO questions on life changes, trauma, etc. NO questions of "do you feel safe, do you feel like harming others or yourself". NOTHING. He then says "you need to call your GP and do a follow up visit" also "and you need to do a stress test on your heart to double make sure" They sent me home.
NOW at this point, sending in a Mental Health Professional would have been the right thing to do.........but they don't.
(( My last round of Covid at the end of Aug, rendered my meds useless.....they just quit working! So I was 'freeballing' life, and whoooo dang that was NOT pretty))
I go to my GP Got stuck with a PA They put me on new meds. Did a stress test. They asked, if I was a runner...........um no. I am a 57 year old smoker. That's how healthy my heart is.
PA asks if I am seeing a therapist. I said I cannot afford one. She said "ok".
NO resources. NO assistance NO list of affordable options. Nothing.
So yes. This country is in a HUGE mental health crisis. Post 2020, it has EXPLODED. And little to no one cares

I believe that kids raised in dysfunctional homes - and I think having a father doing porn work qualifies - are more likely to have more problems than kids raised in homes without all the upheaval and drama. I also place homosexual and lesbian homes in that same dysfunctional category.
You can't stack the deck against children and expect great results.

I’m sorry you can’t get help, laurazone5 . It isn’t even just mental health, several people in my family have serious medical issues, it’s often 4 mo to a year to see a specialist. ☹️ Prayers.
