Saudi Arabia and the UAE might be game changers, but they're both accepting dollars for their oil. I don't see the advantage for them, with the exception of sticking a finger in the US eye.

Biggest advantage is by taking other currencies it makes sanctions near impossible. Bricks are working on a standard currency for trade among member nations.

True, but I seem to remember a few years ago Saudi Arabia taking other currencies for their oil already, and maybe the UAE. It seems more like hedging their bets, as they see China rising while we're going down.

Well sure, I can't blame them. My gosh, if my proud Muslim middle eastern country was confused by the American President with Mexico, well..........
It appears they're remembering Bin Laden's analogy to the "weak horse" vs the "strong horse", and see us and the dollar was the weak horse. I wish I could say they're wrong.
