Feminist scholar and anti-racism educator Peggy McIntosh famously described white privilege as an “invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions, maps, passports, codebooks, visas, clothes, tools and blank checks.”

In other words, white people typically move through life unaware of all the head starts, resources and access the color of their skin affords them. They don’t recognize these unearned advantages until they’re pointed out — and even then, some white people will try to deny the existence of their privilege.

It should be noted that merely acknowledging your white privilege isn’t enough — but it is one small and necessary step toward taking action and wielding that privilege to help dismantle the systems that oppress the Black community and other people of color in this country.

We talked to educators, activists, therapists and professors about the things white people often say that highlight their privilege without them realizing it.

1. “It’s not my job to fix racism because I’m not racist.”

What you’re essentially saying is that because the systemic racism doesn’t hurt you personally — a privileged position to be in — you don’t need to be involved in the fight against it. White people must step up to the plate, act as allies and use their privilege for good.

“It takes the actions of every single person to call out racist behavior and be a part of the solution,” Michelle Saahene, co-founder of From Privilege to Progress, told HuffPost. “It’s a privilege to be able to only talk about race and never experience it. It’s a privilege to choose not to talk about it or acknowledge it.”

And that is what the problem is to these people who 'do' race for a living. People who actually WORK for whatever they have is their enemies. Whether they are black or white.

My next disagreement with the author's points is that she interviewed nothing but Marxists; professors, activists, therapists and educators. Puleeze! The article couldn't be more slanted. .................People of superior intelligence regardless of race or education teach themselves the law of contracts , the methods of taxation , basic accting , etc . and then they work hard , live frugally and as they are able to save they leverage their funds and become rich over time ! , fordy

I agree with your post fordy. Except for that last bit. We've lived frugally all our lives, paid our bills and our 'fair share' of taxes. But we certainly aren't rich by any stretch of the imagination!

I feel no guilt about what I have through inheritance, skin color or work or luck or a combination of all. I am privileged in many ways, I was born into a decent family and I took advantage of opportunities. My extreme good looks, modesty and drink mixing are just extra perks. I would suggest most of these people writing these articles would spend their time better focusing of good things rather than spending all of their energies whining about their injustices.

In the summer, my walkway to my front door is covered in flowers.
At any given time I have no less than 20 bees, buzzing around doing what bees do.
I am deathly allergic to bee stings.

Over the years me and the bees have formed a beautiful relationship.
I don't swat at them.
I don't top water and drown them.
I do talk to them.
I provide them as many flowers as I can.

I come and go, and they do not bother me. They don't dive bomb me, they don't try to sting me.

If we as humans could just STOP swatting at each other, maybe the stinging will stop.

No, we should know how they think about white people who didn't have racist thoughts at all till they started being called racist at every turn. I don't know about anyone else but I've had a belly full of their 'racist' yapping about something EVERY SINGLE DAY.

So, I read their crap so I can know what they think and what they are planning. And don't think there's not a plan to their madness. There is.

...........I use to believe that all black dems were members a dem voting Monolithic group ! But , over the last year I have realized that there is (I hope) a significant percentage of black voters who are using objective analysis and can see through the radical Dem BS and might decide to vote for Trumph even though he may not be their preferred candidate ! 
..........They realize that if they reelect Biden or some other dysfunctional substitute that this country is going to be in much worse shape(then) when the 2028 election arrives than we are currently suffering through , Now ! The US military has been shipping millions of tons of tanks , trucks and all kinds of WAR supplies to staging area's in Europe and it's bases close to the South China Sea ! Why , because they are anticipating a two front war WITH Russia , China and North KOREA ! 
...........If God blesses US and Trump gets elected , may be he can , through strength , negotiate OUR way out of the slide we are in and pull us back from the Abyss we currently find ourselves experiencing ! , fordy

sunny225, I can understand your anxiety, but the folks you are worrying about are certainly NOT 100% of blacks by any means, and those who are making most of the race noise are not in agreement about much.....so are very unlikely to come up with a "master plan" that anybody has to worry about.

Statistically, they are far, far more likely to harm or kill other blacks than they are to come after whites....and certainly unlikely to do so in any organized fashion.....Joe
