Looking at this whole situation between Israel and Iran from a very pragmatic observation, I sincerely believe there's a clear course of events that will play out over the next few weeks.
For decades Israel has put up with intermittent attacks from Hamas, making Hamas think they were invulnerable to any real retribution due to their supposed victim status as viewed by anti-Semites in both Europe and the US. They overplayed their hand on Oct 7th, and Israel as a nation has decided the status quo couldn't stand, and damn the Western criticism, they'll take out Hamas once and for all.
The same scenario is playing out with Iran. Iran has overplayed their hand too. They could get away with using their proxies to attack Israel and avoid a face to face confrontation. But, like Hamas, they've relied on Western critics of Israel for support and holding back Israel's rightful actions. Sending rockets/drones against Israel from Iranian territory was a blunder on their part. That's an open declaration of war, with no way to nuance it by even the most pro-Iran news agencies. The mass attack was supposedly in retaliation for the bombing of a diplomatic residence in Syria, but there's a difference. The difference is Israel didn't attack and destroy that residence in Iran, anymore than Iran's proxies have killed Jew across the world, including the embassy bombing in Venezuela many years ago. Iran has always hidden behind proxies with a certain amount of deniability. Nope, this time it's country against country, and the Iranians have only their Russia air defense systems to protect them. Those systems will be the first to be taken out, then the real damage will come.
As with Hamas, Israel has open and obvious rationale to attack to the point of total destruction of their sworn enemies. Whoever signed off on the October 7th atrocity was very short sighted as to just how far and deep Israel's reaction would be.
In other words, so long Iran and Hamas, been terrible to know you.

Jokerman Intel @jokermanintel Iranian regime-affiliated media: Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced in a letter to the US Department of Defense that if Israel launches a possible retaliatory attack against Iran, Russia will also participate in the Iranian counterattack.

I don't see Russia getting involved.
That's two of us. Russia has no vital interest in Iran's survival. Iran has been building and sending drones and missiles to Russia for its war in Ukraine, but beyond that they're of no real use to Russia. For Russia to attack Israel would be an even bigger blunder than Iran directly attacking Israel. We'd be treaty bound, along with other moral obligations, to react in ways Russia wouldn't want, nor should we.

Smart move on the Israeli's part. I wouldn't tell the Biden administration what I'm thinking about for dinner tonight.
Now, here's the scenario I'd like to see play out: Israel has been reading Iran's mail for decades, they're got informants throughout the Iranian regime. Otherwise they wouldn't have been able to burn up Iran's centrifuges with Stuxnet, know just what building to bomb to take out IIRG Generals in Lebanon and Syria, and who knows how many other Iranian bigwigs that have gone up in dust over the years. Remember all those nuclear scientists that were assassinated a few years back?
What I'm getting at is Mossad surely knows when the Ayatollah and his henchmen will be and when. Taking out the majority of them wouldn't require an air force and missile attack, just park some trucks in their vicinity and pull a Timothy McVeigh on them. If the top tier of Iranian tyrants were taken out the Iranian people, who've been chomping at the bit to bring democracy to their country would do the rest.
Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?
