Am I the only one that thinks all the hatred of the last year or so is just the prelude to a 2nd American revolution?
and that its probably too late to stop it from coming?

mnn2501, I have been thinking about that a lot also. I can't understand why there is so much vitriol in everyday people's outlooks. Unless something changes I don't know if it can be avoided. I do think that some politicians and most of the media are guilty of encouraging the chaos. Unfortunately for their followers the leaders of their little resistance movement will be safe behind armed guards when the fecal matter hits the oscillating device.

I don't see a revolution or civil war in the offing, but I do see assassinations and riots. Unless the left finds a single ignition point, the uninformed dumb masses will just continue to hate.
There could easily be an upside to their craziness though, the more isolated violence they commit, the more people with a modicum of sense will realize how extreme they are, and disavow association with them. The pendulum could swing hard right, hopefully not too hard right, but enough to put them in a permanent minority.

The thing with a revolution in an armed society is you need two opposing sides and at least one of them needs to start shooting.
I figure the left knows they can't win that sort of skirmish so long as the right has all their guns.
And I don't see the right starting it.
So nothing happens until after a critical mass of the guns on the right are neutralized.
Don't give up your guns, people!

.............The Cops have become a defacto civilian military whose motto.........should be changed too "Protect and Arrest " ! When a cop gets shot their buds attend their funeral by the thousands........when a cop murders an innocent person , they never attend their funeral , nor do they publically apologize that I've ever heard of . Murdered innocent citizens don't count as far as general society is concerned other than the immediate members of the person's family .

Just my opinion, somebody needs to open up some mental hospitals again. People are just off mentally lately. We see it in long term care facilities everywhere. Most of the facilities look more like a geriatric psych facility than a nursing home nowadays.

themotherhen, you have got that RIGHT! Much has been made of "scared straight", but one of my Dad's friends went off of the deep end and his kids gifted him with a weekend in the local loony bin which made him at least ACT normal for the remainder of his life. I don't think that cures are really the norm, but a lot of the street people need to go there if only to keep warm and fed......Joe

We need to look at what sort of mental health "care" people are getting.
Hint: Mental health care is not about tossing psychotropic medication at people, hoping that it will dull them enough to function as good little plebeians.
I want to know what "medication" the shooter in that Florida high school was taking.

@pony, I wondered the same thing regarding meds when I heard about the shooting.

I would like to know how much education is required to ADMINISTER mental health care these days. Small town clinics around here advertise it, but I am skeptical. I know you can become a "professional councilor" for students with something like a 90 day course, and many of those step WAY over their level of training and seem to think they are qualified to give all sorts of advice they are not trained for.
I strongly suspect much of that mental health "care" does far more harm than good.....Joe

Get one who has a goals to improve and not simply "accept" the pt's behavior ...once it's OK to have not goals.. Pt's slide down and count on being rescued till they go so dark...they forget to want to be rescued to just live doing nothing but safe. Someone who can challenge and at the same time with hope encourage. Good people in this field face doooo much burn out because sucess is rare!

Then you get an independent license. A 90 day course for school counseling? Not here in MO, not in Ill-annoy. It requires a specialized grad degree here. I resigned from my position at the clinic this week. That choice did not come lightly, as I went through hell to get my independent practitioner license. I will not deny that mental health services can be subpar in many areas. But if it is, I would venture to say that it may well be due to the lack of supports in place for those providing the services.

@pony, I have been wondering how you were doing regarding your job and time off. I hope that you can have a life with less anxiety and upset.
