Apparently my state thinks so, anyway:
It's usually impossible to sail in and out of marina docks so I motor until I'm clear of the docks and then raise the sails. I wonder if that's allowed. My boat is scheduled to go back in the water in a couple weeks, so I'll continue to ignore stupid decrees from the governor.
Similar thing in many states where bicycle rides are allowed, but motorcycle rides are not. What difference does it make if your mode of transport is human powered or engine powered? The important part is no contact with people.

@jtb , Is there some reason you expect government decrees to make sense? I've always thought the word "arbitrary" wouldn't be in the English language if there was no government.

While I don't doubt that beer flu is real and is impacting health, never forget that government types *will* use any and all means necessary to advance the agenda.

themotherhen , I've been meaning to ask, why do you call it beer flu? Because it's Corona? Oh, I get it. Never mind. I'm slow. I always heard that term as a reference to a hangover.

Reading now that lawncare services are not allowed to operate. Not a problem here as I mow my own lawn, but many in the city don't. And those cities do ticket people for long grass. If people can't have their lawn mowed until the order is lifted, it's going to be pretty shaggy by May 1st. That contributes to rodent problems.
And why? Sometimes lawn crews are 4-5 guys in one truck, but they can send out some one-man crews to keep at least some of them working. Not much danger of infection riding around solo on a mower.

Billy G , are you a Michigander, too? Yep, front row seat for the Motown meltdown. Well not literally front seat, there's not enough money in the world to draw me down there.

Haha...I paid good money to live down there, right on the river just up the street from the mayor's house. I liked living there, but got the impulse to farm again. Still have that place, but I'm sure glad I'm not riding out the pandemic there.

Yeppers. Now that some of the panic and fear is subsiding, people are starting to realize that many of these orders and decrees were not based on common sense. My opinion from the beginning was that this was more about control than anything else and nothing I've seen has changed my mind. The feds really don't have the power to limit the things that the states have done and truthfully those state orders could be challenged and overturned as well, if anyone was willing. But the different restrictions on certain businesses like lawn care, and recreational activities while closing parks, trails and campgrounds have made this look silly and chaotic. Meanwhile the most serious threat of new infection, international air travel, goes on like nothing ever happened. If the proper quarantine steps had been taken when there were a few cases here back in January, this would have been stopped and over with in a matter of weeks with few deaths. THAT'S what they did in the countries closest to China like Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc. Yes, there were a few liberties restricted for a few people (those that were clearly infected) for a few weeks. Then it was done and back to normal. I always leave open the possibility of extreme incompetence but in this case I can clearly see that other agendas came into play when the vulnerable opportunity arrived.

I mostly agree with the bold part. I think we'd have had a few thousand deaths, but nowhere near what we have now. There's no way to block it completely without sealing the border goat-tight, and it was probably already inside our borders before we ever knew it anyway. It was confirmed to be inside weeks before the first "travel ban" from China.
But I'm pretty sure international air travel is barely a factor now. We have millions of Americans walking around with it, so a few thousand foreigners flying in with it is a drop in the bucket now. Outgoing is probably more of a threat to other countries than incoming is to us at this point.

Another lunacy of my state (and probably most others): lottery sales are essential.
I can't ride a jet ski, but I can still buy lottery tickets?

@jtb , I saw where the Michigan governor decided vegetable seeds and plants weren't a necessity either.
Isn't she the one who banned hydroxycloroquine as a treatment in her state? Apparently she read a scientific study that said "orange man bad!"
