It is more than a bit ironic. She defied an order purportedly intended to protect public health. Her punishment is to be locked up in a place that's rampant with COVID at the moment. She's more likely to get it there than she is in her salon, and she'll be out in 6 days, with the salon legally open for business at that time. This could end up spreading more COVID than it prevents. Although she doesn't actually cut hair, just owns the place.

Something just occurred to me. Why are we even talking about the logic or common sense of politicians? Haven't we already come to understand that the type of psyche that lures people to that line of work is bent toward power and self-acclimation?
I'm reminded of a statement by someone I'll never remember, but it went something like this: We'd be much better off if we just replaced Congress with people picked at random out of phone books. In my opinion most governments at all levels would benefit from the same choosing.
At least those people wouldn't have sought power for its own sake, and might just come into their new positions saying to themselves "Hey, that's a stupid idea." With no thought of how it would poll.
Our governments, and our governors, are based on self-interest. This jerk in Dallas is potentially sentencing the woman to death from the very virus contagion he purports to defend against. But, he's now in national headlines.

I like that idea. Set a minimum HS diploma or GED, a tax payer with at least 10 years work experience and randomness would be an improvement.
Not that it would ever get passed, but I would like to see that the individual had married a person of the opposite sex and been a resident parent for at least 10 years. That would tend to make the individual have a more long term outlook. Can you imagine the fun I would start if I proposed that in HT?

Governor and attorney general on her side. So I guess it's just the city and county she's battling now. But she's still in jail?

I think that judge should be horse-whipped and placed in a jail cell with Bubba.

Just watched Carlson. He had quite a long segment on not just the lady, but included a bit of background on the judge who sentenced her. Apparently he's a black judge with a history of racially charged statements, prone to social justice lecturing during sentencing. It makes a person wonder if he'd have acted the same if the salon's specialty was corn rows.

Principles are good, but one needs to pick the hills you will die on. I'd have told the judge, "I'm sorry your honor (wink, wink), paid my fine and waltzed away.

We left Dallas County 23 years ago, but both City of Dallas and Dallas County elected officials were being elected even then by denizens of deep urban areas. I remember one County Commissioner, I believe his name was John Wiley Price, who was just about the most racist black man I've ever seen. Inciting problems where no problems existed just to get his face in front of cameras to complain about some imagined injustice. Don't know if he's still around, but if the County Commission is made up of his ilk, it explains a whole lot. He still is. Even after a big trial & can't remember if there was a conviction, some fed offense...

What I want to happen is for att'y Gen to tell the idiotjudge to release her & when he refuses, carry him off to JAIL.

AG did tell the judge to let her out, but it was just a recommendation, no power to do it. Gov could probably pardon her, but I doubt he will in time to get her out early. He just got on her side because it looked bad to be on the other side, but ultimately it's his order that started the whole thing.

She's out. Supreme Court (TX) ordered her released after governor banned jailing violators of his order. Less than 48 hours in the clink and now she's a star. And over half a million dollars now raised by their Go Fund Me.
Nephew was on Hannity last night talking about her case but I missed it.
Oh, and Sarah Palin stopped by the salon yesterday. I missed a lot yesterday.
