For not wearing a mask outdoors at a football game. Logan is a cute little town, my Mom used to get speeding tickets going through there on the way to my Grandma's house.
Strange days.

Yep, that's what I thought. Honestly I am surprised that nobody stepped in, the cop was huge and the lady pretty small. They were on metal bleachers and both her Mother and a small child reportedly felt the zap.

I saw a little about this on FB. Conflicting stories of course. I guess she was asked to comply with wearing a mask. She refused, then was told to leave and it all went down hill from there.
It’s all ridiculous. She was outside, properly social distancing and still got hassled.

Point is many don’t get involved, then when they do they catch hob from all directions. Anyone remember the guy helping protect the business that shot a few folks ? Well there’s your answer. When dealing with a out of control cop one needs to guess what could happen. So most will walk on by.

It goes back to what I've said repeatedly, some people just flat shouldn't be given any authority over others.

................And SO , we HAVE one more example of why so many people are wanting the Crazy cops to be defunded ! Their enforcement\compliance training is entirely based upon "Pain" infliction such as slamming anyone onto a cement sidewalk or ramming their head into a cement wall . ...............Cops need to be retrained NOT defunded , so lets hope that most local Cop Shops will be forced to redo their Modus Operandi in favor of more humane methods of compliance and de escalation rather than just following the current methods of operation . , fordy

As I understand it... 1. The school mandates masks and distancing in the stadium. 2. I don't know if she wore a mask into the stadium and then took it off, or just did not wear one. 3. She was asked by the cop to don a mask or please leave. 4. She refused. She stated she had asthma. 5. She was asked again to leave. Again she refused. 6. That turns into trespassing, and then the cop has a legal right to arrest you. Here's the law: codes.findlaw.com/oh/title-xxix-crimes-procedure/oh-rev-code-sect-2911-23.html7. She resisted arrest. 8. Now, the cop has the right to make you comply, by force. In this case, she got tazed. 9. Criminal Trespass is a First Degree Misdemeanor, punishable by 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $1000.

Jolly, I get it, she didn't follow the rules and apparently wasn't making great choices in her personal life. Still, the whole mask thing is odd for me, especially when the masks say right on the packaging that they don't provide protection for disease transmission. If the races had been reversed would the "national conversation" about this be different?

Probably. But then, I think the current national discussion of race is so much horse hockey.

About masks and disease transmission...
No mask, even N95 masks, are 100% effective at preventing disease transmission. Masks do, however, cut down on disease transmission, if worn properly. Effectiveness is dependent upon the type of mask you are wearing, but even cloth ones help.
South America has experienced a pretty good drop in flu cases during their normal flu season. Current thought is that COVID mitigation strategies are a major reason.

Ever been tazed? I've seen the effects of it, and have been told by those who experienced it that it is pretty awful.
If the size difference between cop and no-mask person is as great as described, why taze, especially when others were close enough to be hurt as well?
Furthermore, most places do make allowances for those who have conditions that preclude wearing the mask.
If people are wearing masks, why are they so concerned about whether someone else is wearing one?
ETA: Just because some view this woman as a POS, she is still entitled to humane treatment.
I see the slippery slope. People in Australia are being imprisoned for not wearing masks. People there are also being arrested for organizing protests.
It can happen here.
Tangentially.... When I think of what is going on Oz, I sure hope aussiedarren was able to get to where he wants to be, before the hammer came down.
