I don't expect anyone else here to really care about the background, but the ending is one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments for one young man, who came through...
I'm an Oregon State alumni, and growing up, and during my attendance there, and for years after, the OSU Beavers managed to acquire what still stands as the record for losing seasons in a row for a Division I school at TWENTY EIGHT YEARS....
That has nothing to do with tonight's game, but as a Beaver fan, we take what we can get. They've had some great success since they snapped the losing streak, but still...
So what is normally the last game of the season between the OSU Beavers and the Oregon duckies, always called the Civil War and now called the 'Rivalry Game' (even though it's gone by the former for the last 124 years)... I believe it's the longest running rivalry game in college football...
So the game tonight gets off to a decent start, the Beavs falter, falter some more, then find themselves down 31-19 in the 3rd quarter.
Fast forward to 22 seconds left in the game, down something like 38-34, the Beavs have a 4th down on the goal line. Four inches to go for a victory, and the Beavs starting QB goes down with a leg injury....
In comes the backup QB who has yet to take a game snap ever, takes the snap, dives in, and scores the go ahead touchdown...
This is the stuff Hollywood makes movies about...
Well done Beavs...
