Winter garden around here does not amount to much. Have one small raised bed that plant carrots and spinach in. Turn it into a miniature green house during the winter. Covered with plastic and then as it gets colder, put a tarp over that at night. When it gets down to about ten degrees or colder add a insulated blanket. Also have a 60 watt light bulb that comes on at night.
The rest of the garden gets several inches of composted crown manure worked in. Hope we get snow early so the ground does not freeze a foot or more deep. That’s the winter garden story till spring shows up.

farmerjack41, We get very few hard freezes and greens often survive them, so our growing season is almost year round.
