James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. There is a story from the antebellum south about a plantation owner who had a believer among his servants. He knew that there was a difference in this man, a difference that he himself wanted to have. He asked him how he too could have what he had. The old man said, "Do you see that hog pen down there? You have to go down, climb inside, get on your knees and ask God for it." The plantation owner shuddered at the thought and said, "No, I could never do that." Time passed and the hunger did not leave the man's heart, so he approached the old man yet again and was met with the same response. More time passed and the ache only grew in the man's heart. He once again approached the old man who told him a third time. The owner blurted out, " Enough! I'll do it!" The old man smiled and said, "Now you don't have to."
