I have one of the smaller round models. Ok for a few things but not impressed with it and will probably toss it. DD has a Ninja 9 in 1 from Costco, a larger size rectangular model which tips up, saving quite a bit of counter space. We’ve been using it quite a bit, it does a pretty nice job. DD was going to Costco today so I mentioned I might like to have one. Mom told me they were a stupid expensive toy, so I told DD to pick one up for me. Pretty certain it will see a LOT of use at my house.
The 3 biggest pluses for me are shorter cooking times, electricity savings and it hardly heats the house compared to an oven. I’m not one to run out and buy the latest gadget but am definitely in favor of anything that saves time, money or space.
Anyone here have one? What sort of cooking do you do with it? Have any favorite recipes? DD mentioned they aren’t tall enough to cook a whole chicken or a roast for shredded beef. Don’t know why you couldn’t split them lengthwise, and the smaller sizes would work even better for 1-2 people.

Love, love, love mine. It's a Ninja with four rack slots. Can do a whole chicken in it. Got it at wally world as it was cheaper than amazon - didn't need the keep warm or dehydrate selections, but it does have all the other function buttons. Since it's just me now I don't have to heat up the big oven to make a meal. Holds a 9 1/2 x 13 pan without handles. I've cooked all kinds of things in mine.

Well, DD came home with the Ninja 9 in 1 tip up version for me last night. Won’t get to use it for 2-3 weeks but I’m certain it will pay for itself in reduced electric costs and not having an oven heating up the house will be a blessing. I frequently make planned leftovers (or bring home food if eating out) and there are foods that just don’t reheat well in the microwave. I’ve really liked he way DD’s air fryer crisps up the leftovers.
That reminds me, I also need to buy myself a new microwave. 😕 Sure wish we could have seen into the future before the move, I left a lot of furniture and household items that now have to be replaced. Could have done that very cheaply in my former town but not sure I’ll find what I want here.

So today I finally pulled the new air fryer out of the box and tried cooking with it. Since I don’t have much time or energy at present, I picked up a few items at Costco the other day to make quick meals. Today I tried a Panko chicken breast with sweet potato fries. Took about 18 min for the chicken, 12(?) min for the fries. For food out of a box and bag, not bad at all. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Basically no work involved. Ate a salad while I was waiting so I could tell myself it was healthy. Little dog says she approves this meal.

I learned this lesson the hard way, but there's a rule of thumb for when converting normal oven directions to using in an air fryer.
Take 10% off the Temperature and 20% off the cooking time.
Usually gets you really close.

Thanks, BrewDaddy, I was wondering about that. You saved me the trouble of looking it up. 🙂

We also are not slave to the ...latest, greatest gadget... However, for instance, we do have a counter top Carey brand pressure canner that has been a wonderful convince..
We have been cautiously interested in an air fryer as a possible replacement for an aging counter top slow cooker, roaster.. The old roaster is so good at body slamming full of ingredients and producing a good meal... But it is time consuming..
Can an air fryer do all, many of the things the old roaster can ?? Would it make a good replacement appliance, or good companion appliance ??
