Due to Sweet Bride's allergy, she can't use Coffee-mate or other creamers that contain milk. She's found an "Oat Creamer" that she really likes, and says it's better tasting in the vanilla flavor than any other creamer she's used over the years. She finds it in the "organic" milk section of the supermarket, a little pricey, so she's found it in powder form online.
Now that hard part: Being preppers, and her being the only one that uses a creamer, I dumped out 8 cans of Coffee-mate.

The latest thing I noticed is an old trick but a dirty one. We always try to get 1 lb rolls of frozen ground turkey from Aldis to make our dogs' food. On the occasions I can't find it, I'll grab the more expensive stuff from the meat dept. at another store. But I've been making their food for 7 or 8 years so I KNOW when something's different. This week the rolls from Aldis are full of water, I can tell by the texture, how it cooks and the resulting amount. I'm guessing at least 10% - 20% added water and less meat. Same thing as less cereal or ice cream in the box. I'm ticked and if this keeps up, I'll buy a meat grinder and start feeding the wild turkeys around my place.

I've noticed that with ground beef for a couple of years now. Even steaks sometimes seem to have a lot of liquid in the absorbent pad under the meat. Cheap way to increase the profits.

Same here, you cook hamburger or a steak and if you don’t continually keep removing the liquid as it cooks, it will boil. Yuck.

farmrbrown, For years we've been buying boneless pork loin at usually about $1.98/lb and grinding them for our homemade dog food. We bought an LEM 3/4 horse grinder, and you can hardly tell it's grinding it's so strong. Fast too. Takes longer to clean up than grind.
