No, it looks like Iran funded Islamic terrorists to overthrow the legitimate government of Yemen, not news. Whatever. My point was we don't have that many true friends in the world and I wouldn't go looking for any in the Middle East. Furthermore during the 4 years of Trump, Yemen WAS considered a gang of terrorists but after 2020 we went "soft" again, which to me, explains a lot of why a little runt of a country in a strategic area like that is giving us more than about 5 minutes of trouble. But WTH do I know, right?

farmrbrown , Would you mind casting your pearls before we poor swine as to what you learned about Yemen? Not at all. Long story short, up until 2014 we'd been supplying them military equipment and other things to support their gov't. Then they had an uprising/revolution etc. and those leaders have been in exile ever since. Now the Saudi's have been in a conflict with Yemen cuz the new guys hate the Saudi's whereas the previous regime were friends of theirs. And all this time, the U.S. has been hoping the "rebels" will be defeated so the exiled gov't leaders can return and go back to a convenient "ally" (I use the word loosely) that we can use for military operations when we get the urge. IOW, we COULD wipe them off the map but we'd rather not unless we absolutely have to. I hate trying to make sense out of bad foreign policy decisions, but that's the way it looks to me. See what y'all come up with..... www.state.gov/countries-areas/yemen/This has 30 pages of State Dept. reports but after reading a few between 2010 and 2020 it looks like a case of an overdue breakup of a bad relationship, lol. www.state.gov/countries-areas-archive/yemen/I think this is actually standard operating procedure for the US government/military. I just can't see getting in bed with someone we know is carrying STD's galore and expecting not to 'catch something'. I guess all these corrupt, crooked politicians know better than me though.

In other words, military industrial complex flunkies trying to play both side getting us into another mess. How many times have we seen this? Way too many.

Why aren't we raining hell down on those terrorists? I guess Biden/Obama are still trying to make nice with Iran.
Maybe we'll get lucky and the Pakistanis will nuke them.

townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2024/01/19/biden-admits-airstrikes-in-yemen-arent-working-n2633873Biden Makes an Admission About the Airstrikes in Yemen President Biden admitted Thursday that U.S. airstrikes in Yemen are not deterring the Houthi rebels’ attacks in the Red Sea. The commander in chief’s comments came the same day the Houthis launched a missile strike against a U.S. owned vessel, though no injuries or damage were reported. That attack followed the U.S.’s fifth round of strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. more at link

I wasn't sure where to put this, so I thought this thread is as good as any.
