It has been a rather bad weekend. Babysat for them Saturday while their parents went to a wedding. Usually the 7-year old is bouncing off walls, but he was so quiet and was having trouble with his asthma. Well, that night he ended up in the ER (when his parents came home) and is in Pediatric ICU. He was in the "red zone" for breathing and he can't be released until he gets to the "green zone". Other GS (5) has been having stomach and bowel issues and (again) was yelling in pain, so his dad walked him down to the ER (same building as the other GS). I haven't heard anything, but I know my DD has an appointment with a pediatric gastro doctor this morning for him. Poor little guys had a bad weekend. Any prayers or crossing of fingers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks!! Steve is home with a new plan for his asthma and John has to take certain foods out of his diet and take some meds on a daily basis. Both boys should be fine!

Wow! That was quick! How wonderful it is when these things turn around quickly and there's a plan to keep them doing well, especially when it's the little's that are suffering. Glad to know there was good news!

Wow! No sooner did I read that the grands needed prayer, I read that God our Father has intervened for them.

Wow! No sooner did I read that the grands needed prayer, I read that God our Father has intervened for them. Yes - they gave Stephen very aggressive treatment in the ICU. I hope his new plan helps him. This time of year is when my DD usually has the worst trouble with the boys and their allergies/asthma.

nanci, it is so good to get illnesses and treatment resolved to a good result. I pray that they continue to get better. I know how helpless Grandmas feel when our little ones get sick. My 7 yr old grandson was very sick with a virus last month. We were so worried about him until he got over it. It turned out that it was Novo virus and they had been on a Disney cruise the week before.

My oldest called it "the 8 days of H"(he actually said "H" he has never cussed in front of me) :-) because it took that long to make it all the way through when everyone was over it. Nanci, I am so glad that your littles are feeling better! This time of year is tough for those of us with allergies. Interesting fact-one of my sisters has 2 sons, one with asthma and one with chronic GI issues. His doc told my sister to start him on allergy meds, said that some people have GI issues due to allergies. I just thought I would pass that along because of the timing of them both getting sick. I hope the new plans work out well for both of them!

I hope the new plans work out well for both of them! We have found out the little one's "allergies" to foods is so minute as to be dismissed. My DD is going to take him to the allergist anyway. His highest number is wheat which is at a 2. The older one's allergy to peanuts is a 100. When you compare the two, the 2 seems like nothing. The older one is home again today with his congestion. He has a cold on top of the allergies and asthma and has difficulty breathing with that. This is always a bad time of year for them, but this year seems worse. We hardly had a winter this year, so maybe some of the stuff that usually dies off didn't. My DD said her husband also is bothered by his asthma and eczema right now, too. It's just a vicious cycle. We live in a valley and sometimes the stuff just hangs over us like a cloud.

nanci, I agree about a mild winter exacerbating airborne allergies, I am currently struggling with that issue. Our pollen count has been much higher this year during March than last year, everything is blooming about a month earlier than usual. My sister had good results with my GI issue nephew when she gave him Benadryl. The Dr said that some people with GI issues benefit from a medicine like that because it dials down the immune response. It really made a difference for him. I hope they both feel better soon!

Kris said since he's been getting the Miralax, he's not been complaining about belly pain - well that, and cutting out the foods the gastro doc told her to.

I'm late reading this thread, but sure glad to hear that the g-kids are okay. It's been a rough Spring, seems like everybody has 'the crud'. DD had it first, in the middle of a business trip, ugh!. Our new great-grandson contracted a viral respiratory infection & was a very sick lil fella for about a week. DH woke up one morning w/ terrible deep chest congestion & I got it a few days later. Week & a half later and it's just now starting to break up. Hard to get a good night's sleep for all the coughing. DH has dr. appt this afternoon cuz he's had intermittent low-grade fever. He just had a skin cancer removed from his eyelid, reconstructive surgery & I want to make sure the fever isn't related to that. But it seems like everyone you talk to has had some type of respiratory problems this year.
