Man should not interfere, they mess up the natural food chain every time they do. If certain animals disappear it is usually because the area could not sustain them. They go some where else. But it seems animals are more important than man who cares if they lose their life or animals

The terrible thing about conservationist's theories is everyone else is forced to pay for their errors. But then, in their eyes, humans and their animals aren't nearly as important as "nature".
Like automotive engineers should be forced for eternity to fix their designs, conservation theorists should be made to live among their theories.

Back in 2010, my hubby noticed my mare was upset, snorting and kicking, staring over in the field. He thought at first it was a couple racoon's, then realized it was 2 bear cubs tumbling around. Mom was just across the creek watching.

+++++ Sounds like part of the mantra that is often used.. That being... Wild animals need wild places.. Wild places need wild animals.. Unfortunately mostly sung by people in condos doing protests that never have to deal with the consequences of wild animals to livestock.. Many times saying predators need to make a living also.. Easy to say when it is not there loss..
When I have said.... Fine next time we loose a chicken or several at $10 - $20 each, or a goose at $100 to replace, as a livestock producer, I can send you a bill and you will send a check to cover that.. I always get the shocked look and some sort of comment like your out of your mind, or much, much ruder.. This has always been the end of that conversation..

JTB..... THAT is a big bear anywhere... Not the biggest, but BIG enough to be bold enough to do some real damage..
There is still some of one about that size in the freezer.. We were lucky it was young and well fed enough to be very good eating.. Neighbor got one about that size that had been living on frogs from the swamp... NOT so good..

Got an email from a neighbor about an hour ago saying a black bear was spotted crossing our gravel road about a half mile from us, heading down into a ravine. First report of a bear sighting in the 19 years we've been here.
Put the 30.06 by the back door, but with our dogs I'm doubting it'll come around looking for a chicken or sheep meal. My only concern is our rabbitry, which I'm going to put an alarm sensor on. If it gets in there, those are pretty tight quarters to be bear hunting in.

There's going to be a hunting season on bears, limited I'm sure, here in the Ozark's.

ceresone, I'm confused, what's a "season"? It there's a predator close to my animals, even though it's only following its instinct.....

There's going to be a hunting season on bears, limited I'm sure, here in the Ozark's. I sure hope so. Perhaps it will convince at least a few of the survivors that living around humans and their livestock is a fool's errand. I have a bad feeling though that if deer season doesn't convince them to move along, only a well-placed slug will?
