In yet another NY fiasco, it appears they don't bother to cancel your health insurance, even when you no longer have health, and that's not the worst of it. Auditors investigating New York’s healthcare exchange announced on Thursday the state paid $325,000 for hundreds of dead people who were mistakingly still on Medicaid benefits.
While 333 users were just mistakingly left on the benefits after their deaths, the Post reported that 21 of the 354 dead Medicaid users were enrolled in the program after they had died.

It's what happens when ever increasing numbers of people get freebies. The bureaucracy can not keep up with it even if they all are willing. I think every public spending bill ought to have a built in mechanism for financing a reasonably good quality control and that shoukd not be diverable to other things.

I'm still waiting for just ONE of those gooberment programs that was supposed to function for a certain set period of time (along with the funding that went with it), to FINALLY come to an end, like it was intended!
So far, that hasn't happened.... bureaucracies have that nasty predisposition for self-preservation.
They never die or go away - just continue to grow ever bigger and more useless.
