Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. - Matt. 18:3
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. - Mark 10:15
A couple of verses to remind us (me!) to keep our spirit as it should be; trusting, without guile, pure, carefree, innocent.

Yes, I believe what you mention to be true, however, I would add one thing more. An insatiable craving to be taught. Babies pick up and emulate behaviors from an extremely young age, if they have siblings that are close in age, they pick things up even faster. My sister taught my niece sign language before she could speak. My belief is that what God looks for is the willingness to completely gut and cast aside old beliefs and absorb His truth like the proverbial sponge. And like a buddy of mine likes to refer to. Acts 17:11Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. You must throw a net across the river of new information and seine out the truth from the false. 1 John 4 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. ... Fear not because. 1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
