partndn, have you read C.S.Lewis's trilogy fiction? Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, That Hideous Strength? If you are looking for a lighter read, which we all need at times, the Joshua series is very good.

themotherhen, No I have not. I have never read diddly squat for entertainment until this Mitford thing bit me. Biographies, and some historical stuff, and then of course.. instructional things a lot (sewing, knitting, cooking, canning, etc.) Thanks for the recommendation. I'm a big fan of Lewis' words but have only hit the non fiction stuff of his.

partndn , you will not be disappointed! He writes in such a confiding, friendly way. For me, it is like talking to a wise, favorite uncle when I read his books.
