A lot of us like to read. Currently, I'm reading something I should have dived into a long time ago: What are you reading now?

Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown
It's about courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and how we can't avoid all that "touchy feely" stuff if we want to be real in our lives.
I'm also looking at many, many books of house plans, as well as books on how to build a house.

I'm reading "Home Grown Kids" by the Moores. Lots of practical advice to simplify running a household and raising littles.

I'm reading "Storm Front", John Sanford. I've read 'bout all his "Prey" series & started reading "Escape Clause" but there were references to stuff that happened in previous books...I didn't realize I had not read 2 books that came b/4 so checked out the ones I hadn't read...stack of Sanford's books here, trying to speed-read. He's my fav author.
I like 'Alex Cross' ones by Patterson too.

Jolly , I've got that book! I haven't read it yet, though. I'm prejudiced against paperback and want a hardcover copy instead. Plus, I get bored easily and book-hop without finishing the book I'm on so the Guns of August sits on my shelf with about 7 other WW1 books I have yet to read. I just finished First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers by Loung Ung Good book, although at times I did question the author's credibility. It didn't seem possible for a single person to endure and witness so much cruelty. If everything is true, I'm very thankful I am American and was born after all that. Now I'm reading. . . . Conquistador by Buddy Levy I've only got as far as the introduction. I watched a documentary on the Aztecs and decided to buy this book. I also want to finish 'All Buy My Life' by Gerda Weissman Klein. But like I said before, I book-hop >.< I read about 1/4 of it and then I put it down and never went back. I actually only finish, maybe, 5 books a year. I'm terrible that way. I got 1/2 way through Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert Massie and put that down too. I got this feeling I'll never get around to finishing it. I have no discipline. Lol.

toni, If one can read a book 1/4 way through and put it down, it is not a negative critique of the reader, but of the author. Authors only get what they deserve in terms of readership. Lots of big names sell lots of books that hardly anyone ever finishes....or in the case of political figures, hardly anyone ever STARTS.
Surprising to me how many folks who claim never to finish a book plow right through nearly 1000 pages of "Atlas Shrugged" and are sorry to see it end.....many read it more than once.
Reading.......unless it is assigned......is not about disipline. It is the reward you get for having disipline in the other parts of your life......Enjoy!......Joe

I'm one of those OCD people who start something, and finish no matter what. The one exception is books. My most recent disappointment was a book by a co-author of Tom Clancy's, with Tom Clancy's name in huge letters on the front. I made it through the first chapter and wanted my money back.
I'm looking this morning for a few new books, I think I'll try James Wesley Rawles' latest two, and maybe Mark Levin's latest also. That's me, SchumerHTF & political gloom.
