Michael Crichton's book, published posthumously, in my mind the best one of all of the GOOD novels by him.
A really advertuous romp based on true events but jazzed up a lot.
1875
Rival paleontologists from the East, both savagely competitive, named Cope and Marsh and both real people from history take annual summer trips to the wild west with crews of students to dig up ancient bones of ancient critters that nobody at the time ever knew existed.
A true adventure story, lots of science, a bit of conflict over Darwin's recent (at the time) theory, appearances of the Earp brothers, and plenty of action.
Like a lot of his books, almost impossible to describe fully, but VERY pleasing to me. Sorry to reach the last page, but also like a lot of his books, an afterword that lends a bit more pleasure.....Joe
