Well, the biopsy came back yesterday, and she has stage 4 cancer in her liver and lymph nodes. Oddly enough, the tumor in her colon was benign, so they don't know where it started. They are calling it stage 4 metastatic cancer of unknown origin. On the bright side, they are letting her drink some fluids and eating a liquid diet for now. They removed the NG tube and she feels a lot better. Now she needs to get healed up from the surgery, get some weight on (She lost 46 pounds in the last month or so) and then they will start chemo. Continued prayers welcome. And prayers will continue.

Went and saw my sis Friday after work, and we were there when the oncologist came in to talk to her. He said the tumor in her colon was cancerous and was the source. He talked to her about quality of life vs quantity, and also talked about the different kinds of cancer. She's a nurse, and she kinda knows what she's up against. She told the doc "I know liver cancer is not survivable", and he said that at this point, they were calling it colon cancer that had metastasized to the liver and lymph nodes. Apparently there's a difference. He said it would be 4-6 weeks before they could start chemo, she has to heal up from surgery, put on some weight and get her strength back. Hopefully, they'll get her to eating and walking so she can go home.

Today is my sister's birthday, and it's a tough day for her because 2 years ago today, we buried our other sister. My brother told me she might be going home today, I sure hope so. Either way, I'll go see her for her birthday, take her a card at least. She had an abscess, but if her white count stays down, they might let her go home. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Sucks to be an oncologist and the bearer of bad news. Sucks to be on the receiving end of bad news. Sucks to be medical, because the mind automatically conjures up the worst prognosis.
God Bless her...

She's home and healing up, stronger every day. In a month or so, they hope to be able to start chemo, and we'll see how she responds to it. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
