2 years ago on the 16th of this month, we lost our youngest sister to cancer and MS. Today my other sister goes into surgery. She has "nodules" on her liver, and what they called an "apple core tumor" in her bowl causing an obstruction. Prayers would be appreciated.

Father, hold this family close as they wait for a positive surgical outcome. Please continue to heal them from the grief over the loss of their sister two years ago, and return Cornhusker's remaining sister to the family in good health. It is hard to watch our siblings suffer illness, worse when we worry that it could be something scary and devastating. You are mighty and good, and have your own purposes and plan, but we beg you to spare this family continued grief.

Thanks guys. She came through surgery fine, and they said it went very well. They took out part of her colon and biopsied her liver, so time will tell. Last night, she was in quite a bit of pain, but wouldn't let anybody in to see her until her friend (also a nurse like my sister) "fixed her up". My sister has never been a vain woman, but she didn't want her kids seeing her at her worst and worrying them even more. Even flat on her back, just out of surgery, she was more worried about others than herself. That's just her though, tough, compassionate, caring and opinionated.

Good news so far - she sounds like a determined lady. Prayers for continued improvement, no more pain and good test results.

She didn't feel very good yesterday, but they said she's doing well. She managed to drink some apple juice, and her bodily functions are returning to normal, so she should get rid of the NG tube and that should make her feel better, she hates that thing, and having had them before, I know how it is. They even had her standing yesterday. I texted her yesterday and asked her how she was feeling. 2 hours later she texted back "Cranky", so I left her alone I forgot to mention, the day she had her surgery was the anniversary of the day our dad died, and also her husband's birthday. He had been so worried about her for so long, and he's not normally an emotional person. I gave him some money for gas and whatnot, and he started to cry, then he gave me a hug. I hope that's the last outburst like that.

I suspect he worries a lot more about his wife, than he ever would worry about himself.

Well, the biopsy came back yesterday, and she has stage 4 cancer in her liver and lymph nodes. Oddly enough, the tumor in her colon was benign, so they don't know where it started. They are calling it stage 4 metastatic cancer of unknown origin. On the bright side, they are letting her drink some fluids and eating a liquid diet for now. They removed the NG tube and she feels a lot better. Now she needs to get healed up from the surgery, get some weight on (She lost 46 pounds in the last month or so) and then they will start chemo. Continued prayers welcome.
