as far as puppets is concerned it is nice. for kids. It is not austrian. If you tell an Austrian it is he will think you are soft in the head. My best friend is from Salzburg. Buses with American tourists come and look at the movie locations. they are real.
If you want to see a real goatherd, as near as it goes, here is an excerpt from the original, Swiss version of the movie Heidi.
Americans always search out the locations where various scenes from the movie were shot, but do you know what it is that British tourists always seek when in the Salzburg area?
I will give you a hint. It is not the casino.
Hookers?!

Almost anything with Julie Andrews in it was worth watching. I like Julie Andrews, she is very personable. Must be a good sport, too....
so happy easter....
I think Mozart would have liked that second selection.

SPRING IS HERE...... NOT... April Fools... Well at least it hasn't snowed today... yet... Bright, sunny, COLD strong wind, and -15C at noon today.. Could be worse..
I got out yesterday to plow snow. About 4" or so over a few days.. Just did the paths to do chores. The driveway can wait until before we do our next town run. There is an area by the gate and road where it drifts worse, so will get that in one go when needed.. Tentatively plan a trip the middle of next week..
Catching up on all manor of domestic chores, have a ton of books processed and ready for shelves. Need to get the raw book storage area ready as the library is closed to the public, but if they can't have the spring book sale, depending on there storage, they may dump the lot on us. Need to be ready. Sweetie is about 200 registrations short of 5 th place in the world for the system she registers with.. You go girl..

Nope! There is a little-bitty town north of Salzburg with a name that seems to entice most Brits to want to go and visit.
I can't type out the name of the town in this forum, but I will give you a hint that anyone can figure out. The name is what is referred to here as the "F-bomb" with the "ing" ending. In other words, this little town's name is the same as the crude way of saying the word "copulating".
Every time I would see a vehicle with British plates on it they were always asking for directions to that little town. The main drag through the town also carries the same name and Brits were always trying to steal the street signs.

Went to Telephone TX to look at a rebuilt 8N...not so good. We have limited abilities when it comes to tractors but could tell the guy painted over stuff...he followed us to our property to look at our dead 8N & immediately came down on price & offered us 1400 to trade. Hmmmm. Don't think we will do that. Cleaned most of rat poop out of our shed. 3 garbage bags of nothin' but poop! 2 more of broken plastic, etc. Still not done.

Depending on its mechanical and general cosmetics, an 8n tractor around here goes for between $1200 and $2000 bare with no implements. One thing you'd always want to check is the hydraulic lift ability, if the pump is weak it can be expensive to get rebuilt. Also, does it have an "over-run" clutch on the PTO, as brush hogging without one might well take you places you didn't intend to go.
If it were me, I'd have a qualified tractor mechanic look at yours and see what kind of costs you'd be looking at to make it serviceable again. As was mentioned, 8n tractors are very simple machines, which means servicing the is pretty simple too.

I have no clue. when you said a little Dorf North of Salzburg I thought for sure you meant Oberndorf, the home of "SiIent night, holy night" So what goes on in that town? ARe the locals aware of their claim to fame among the Brits? Ingrid does not know and she is from Salzburg.
Have you been there?
Totally uninteresting. But a little bit north of Salzburg there is a place , drats, forgot the name, we would eat there. Schnitzels so big they hung over the edge of the plate.

Got the solar panel hooked to the charge controller and battery, seems to be working fine. Planted 9 blackberry "twigs" to replace some missing ones, and weeded the blueberry patch. Yesterday we planted 25 strawberry plants in big feed buckets filled with compost. We had a half dozen last year in those buckets until someone forgot to throw the latch on the garden gate. Yep, sheep ate them down to the nub. But, they're back this year! Put an ad on Craigslist for our last remaining bottle baby lamb, as half hour later a woman from West Plains said she was on her way, should be here any time. I took the ad down two hours after putting it up, and by then I'd had five responses. Either we're selling them too cheap, or lots of people want to get up at night to feed lambs.

Like just about anybody who recently tasted "leg-o-lamb" or Lamb chops. I dunno how fat I would get if I had a freezer full of them, but would prob'ly need a new belt inside of a week!......Joe

The gal who bought her has two 4 years old granddaughters who apparently live with she and her husband. Oh yeah, that lamb is going to get spoiled even beyond what my wife has already. I don't think putting her in the freezer is on the agenda. She'll have a long and happy life.

It is actually about 20 miles north-northwest of Salzburg and a neighboring town is called "Hucking".
Nothing much goes on there as far as I know and from what I have heard, the locals are very aware as they are always replacing the street signs and a "willkommen" sign.
Apparently I drove through it once and must have sneezed because I missed it.

We volunteered at the local mission giving out food. We served 78 families. I worked all day in mask and gloves. We have changed to drive up only. They drive up and are told to not get out of cars. It seems to be working pretty well. Got a text from son in Florida. He was tested for virus today. Said they swabbed him to his skull. His sil tested positive and she is staying with them. He will find out tomorrow. So glad Heavenly Father shoulders all my worries and fears!

I have been sitting here and listening to Limbaugh relating the world-wide deaths by various diseases, and I am not so much nonplussed by the number of covid-19 deaths as the number of NON covid-19 ones.
A LOT of folks out there dying as a matter of course these days, folks, just like always.
Yeah, I know, this disease is nothing to sneeze at, but neither are a LOT of other movers and shakers that have been with us for decades...…
WARNING! SERIOUS CONTENT ENDS HERE!
As a fr'instance, we have the high incidence of "chirpies"....an avian disease.
Carried mostly by canaries, therefore listed as a "canarial disease", that cannot be "tweeted".....
WHAT?...y'all should know better than to take me seriously after 8PM mountain time!
G'night and God bless....Joe
