Yep, all of a sudden we had yellow flames on our propane stove. Checked the stock pot range - same thing. Popped the front off the furnace - yellow flames. Called the propane guy, he checked pressure, changed tanks (we've got 2 500 gal), adjusted regulator, changed regulator, still yellow flames.
Called our HVAC guy, said what would cause this? He came out, rechecked pressures, we unhooked the copper tubing at the tanks and the house, blew compressed air through it to dislodge any possible debris - nothing.
Standing in the kitchen with the HVAC guy, I said "it's got to be something simple that we're just not seeing". He said he gave up, but we might try googling "yellow flames gas stove". So a while later my wife did just that. At the bottom of the first page someone said "if you have a humidifier in the area, shut it off". Yep, 20 minutes later we had blue flames again. Who knew wet air doesn't burn well?
She had just set the humidifier on the kitchen bar a little before we noticed the yellow flames, and I was leaning on the bar 2 feet from the humidifier when I said we were overlooking something simple. I'm telling y'all this so you won't feel as stupid as I did.

That's ok, noticing things like that is what keeps you alive! LOL I'll have to run that by the guys at work. This week we had the gas heater repaired and now when both ends of the shop are running it, one area has the flame spitting and going drop orange to blue. It's been raining for most of the past month, even as we speak. My pastor also made a remark last week about noticing too much condensation on your windows and the flame not burning blue when using propane heat. It can mean the oxygen level in the room is getting low. Sure enough, he opened the window and let in fresh air and the flame went blue again. Something I didn't know......

Nonsense, looking stuff up is evidence of wisdom. Not knowing is just that- not knowing. Now if you want a story about missing the actually obvious, when it's literally hitting you in the face........
