since I rarely get out anymore. Middle DD called me this afternoon, filled me in on the latest local happenings. BLM chose our little town (why?) to stage a protest several days ago. Bussed in 150 people from other areas. About the same number of townspeople decided "not happening here" and showed up armed, some on horseback with ropes in hand, across the street from the protesters. It was reported as a "peaceful protest" but DD said the protesters were carrying signs that said "F____ the Police!", and were shouting at and cursing our locals. They got a bit of the same back plus a few pranks pulled on them. Our locals apparently made them feel "unsafe", as at least some of the protesters asked our police to escort them back to their bus. One of our hometown websites run by a local gal was overwhelmed after the event with comments from the protesters (can't repeat them here). The website had to be shut down temporarily. Don't understand why they don't like our friendly little town. *shrug*

Well, the latest 'signs' to appear in hands of 'mostly peaceful protesters' are: "Defund the Police". Seems that's the cry of most Dimocraps now too.

I'm sure that getting rid of the police in Chicago will make it safer. The gangs will go away. Crime will fall to nothing. And then peace will guide the planets and love will rule the stars

This is the funniest thing I keep seeing repeated:

Seriously, who do they think will 'escort' them to safety if the F* them or defund them or whatever.

I know, I LOL every time I picture that scenario. Would've loved to hear the comments in the police station after the event. 😁 DD told me that the "protestors" were being instructed to leave the mom & pop stores alone but go after the big businesses. Well, this is a small town and a) we don't have much for big business, and b) locals need the jobs they have at those businesses. Damage done affects all of us and our townspeople are not going to sit around and let that happen. Nor are these BLM people going after our LEOs without taking on the rest of the town. Our local cops may be the exception (LEOs in nearest city are nothing like ours) but our hometown guys are loved and appreciated. I *almost* would like to see cops nationwide take a weekend off and see how people feel about living in a town w/o LEOs. I'd like to know why they chose our little town to hold a protest. Judging by their comments online afterwards, I don't think they'll be back. We're apparently pretty uneducated here, not very hospitable, and r acist!

It looks like Minneapolis may be the first to do it (defund/dismantle police). Apparently their city council is all on-board, led by Jeremiah Ellison...Keith Ellison's son. The plan is to "rethink how we approach public safety" & replace it w/ a "new model".
If I lived there, I'd be putting a For Sale sign on my house and packing my belongings right now. SMH
Oh, and their entire police force should walk off the job today. Right now.

Txsteader , so scary. Several people in DH's family remain in 'the cities' including his 97 year old mother. We are watching this closely and talking to folks there.

Very concerned about Nick's elderly family up there. They refuse to leave, mostly because of auntie's medication. Keep telling them to show her that there are pharmacies all over the country, and most of them are not under siege.
I cannot believe how some of the family are completely bought into this whole covid and now racial mess.
All we can do is invite them. If they won't come, nothing we can do.

If you lived there and decided to move I have serious doubts that you would get anything close to your asking price.

wildhorseluvr, I would have LOVED to see film of a roping demonstration where the mounted lads and lassies were heeling the rioters as they ran top speed on rough pavement. That tends to stretch a calf out to about a foot longer than you thought possible before he hits the ground, and he only has a couple of feet to fall, but a six foot rioter would prob'ly go horizontal 4 feet above the ground, then straight down. Rider might have to back up 30 or 40 feet afterwards....just to keep the rope tight... could turn into an Olympic event....Joe

One of the yooztoobz channels I follow showed a mall in western North Dakota, where intel said there was going to be a 'protest' i.e. with any luck, some looting and burning....
Word got out, then in short order the entire facility was circled with bikers and their Harley's, roughnecks, cowboys and their pickups, veterans, concerned citizens... most open carrying and proud to stand and protect their own...
Apparently the 'protesters' showed up on their buses, a few bikers zoomed over there to tell them what's what, and the 'protesters' turned around and left, at a high rate of speed....
Don't start no trouble, won't be no trouble....

I LOVE it when neighborhood watch groups are not content to just watch. America sometimes needs a common enemy to bring diverse groups together, and if Antifa and BLM wind up serving that purpose, I will build a monument to them with my own two hands.
Of course, I will keep one hand close to my weapon as I build, but that is a minor detail. I will have like minded citizens standing by with BOTH hands near their weapons, 'cause that is just how Americans are....thank God almighty!.....Joe
