Not this year, but next year...
Cristobal laid my sweetcorn flat in the middles. I'm hoping it straightens up some with the sunshine, but some of it I'll have to stand up and apply some dirt to keep it kinda upright. Even then, I'm about a week and a half from pulling the first ears.
This is not the first time this has happened and I'm tired of it. Since I'm only planting four 120' rows, I'm going to change the way I do things...Next year, after the corn gets too tall to cultivate with the tractor, I'm going to drive some t-posts on the end of each row and a couple part way down. I'm then going to run strings either side of the corn, down to the other end.
I'm thinking it won't take much to keep the plants upright. Call it wind insurance.
Think it will work?

Jolly, we did that one year and it did the job nicely.

Yep, we've also had to do that & it worked well, for the most part. A few stalks still fell sideways a bit & had to be propped back up but overall, it saved us from having to slosh around in the mud, trying to prop most of the crop up.

Yep, it'll work. We've had to prop our corn back up a few times, and always wished we'd have run some reinforcements beforehand.

It's called the Florida Weave. Works well on corn and tomatoes, too.
