Today BLM will be having their 3rd protest in our town, DD has read online that they expect 1,000-2,000 protestors here. Supposedly we will have a "strong police presence" here. I sure hope so. One of the organizers met with our police chief and asked him to take a knee, he refused. 👍🏻 At least one bank has boarded up their windows/doors, the post office has surrounded their building with chain link fence, concrete barriers have been put up along the main road.
Would appreciate prayers that it stays peaceful and no one gets hurt. One of my family members will be there to support the police. I was considering going but have met with real opposition from my family. One of their issues is that the protesters have been spitting on our townspeople, and my family is worried about me catching the COVID virus. So I guess I'll stay home to keep them happy. 😕

Some of the most sage advice you'll every get it "Stay Away From Crowds." Ol' Remus as the Woodpile Report has been admonishing people of that for years. I'll add one thing - crowds with attitudes especially.

Some of the most sage advice you'll every get it "Stay Away From Crowds." Ol' Remus as the Woodpile Report has been admonishing people of that for years. I'll add one thing - crowds with attitudes especially. I generally take that to heart, especially since I hate crowds to begin with. This is one of those rare instances though where I feel like I should be there, not in the forefront but a relatively safe area just to help support our town/police. There has been more talk amongst our family about leaving the state, and while I'm in agreement for the most part, where can we go that will be any better in another year or two? A couple weeks ago my DGD in KY said she was glad they moved there because it is so conservative and they live in an area no one would bother. A week later she was telling me that BLM was trying to organize a protest there too. Sometimes people have to make a stand. This is a nice town, why should we let outsiders destroy our way of life? At some point, we have to say, "Enough!"

It will stop at the first Kent State event.
Sadly, that's what it generally takes with people who don't know when to stop pushing...

I read an article yesterday that I wish I could find and link to.
The author's point was that all revolutionary movements come to one of two ends. Either they start eating their own until nobody trusts each other and it dies out, or a charismatic strongman takes over and leads them to success.
As yet there's no identifiable leader, especially since BLM and Antifa are both involved, and I don't see anyone in the offing. They're indeed being funded and advised, but they're still a minority among minorities. It's ironic that a anti-capitalist Marxist movement is being funded by capitalists, talk about a self-hate complex.
Lenin came back from Germany to lead the Bolsheviks, Hitler took over the chaotic National Socialists, but in this day and age with electronic surveillance and intercepts, leading groups like this would put a person in jeopardy of the RICO statues for conspiracy to commit violence.
Bottom line, I see them getting more and more desperate as their movements don't gain massive support, causing them to become even more violent but possible not in the ways we're seeing now to the point even the media can't make excuses for them any longer. When the national attitude is disgust, and it's not seen as racially motivated, the law will come down on the individual leaders like a ton of bricks.
When people are fed up enough with this craziness, the backlash is going to be swift and harsh.

Lord have mercy. Please.
Is it just me or is *everyone* freaking crazy??? I have previously postulated that the combination of lockdown and media and pandemic and freaking crazy is combining to be bad, aka chaos theory.
Can we just avoid it?

It's not just you themotherhen, I too think everyone is crazy! Damned if we do, damned if we don't. I'm so happy wildhorseluvr, did not go. I wouldn't have step foot near a bunch of people, no matter if they were as sweet as pie....nope. Too many crazies out there! It's craziness everywhere. My sister lives in Upstate NY, very country, beautiful. She went to lunch, outdoors first time, last weekend. There were protestors in her little country town. Trying to enjoy a first lunch outside in months, they took there food in the car and drove to a peaceful camping site near a lake to eat.

Found this encouraging article today.
“Why bring it to Bethel?” Brad McCall said. “Why not go to Chicago? Look how many Black people are getting killed in Chicago. Black people are not getting killed in Bethel.”

Well, their big protest of "1,000-2,000 people" was a bust. According to some who attended, *maybe* 200 showed up. A few days ago there was some publicity about our townspeople "waving their guns around" 🙄 at the last protest so maybe some protesters had second thoughts about coming. Our cops had backup from the city police but I'm not sure it was even needed. My family member said it was pretty much a non-event, and even more townspeople showed up this time to support our cops. Judging by comments online, people here are getting pretty fed up. They all feel we have a good relationship with the minorities who live here so why is our town being singled out and and called racist? A black lady who lives here drove down the street and "dissed" the protesters. 😆
Family member who attended went to get some lunch before the protest started. Owner of the restaurant wouldn't let him pay for his lunch since he was carrying and helping protect the local businesses. I hope this is the end of this but wouldn't bet on it.

I'm so happy it was all calm for you and your little town wildhorseluvr, Sounds like you have a bunch of good, kind folks in your town. Supporting the police, I'm sure made them very happy. So, if your town has good relationships with the minorities, who do you think is causing the false racist problems? Outsiders, but why? I really dislike this whole thing. Your town must be known to be kind and not racist...it gets me mad! I'm just happy you're safe and there was no one hurt.

So we had Pt. 4 the other day with a whole 9 protesters. Today our Police Dept put a message on their Facebook page that there is supposed to be a large protest (Pt.5) again tomorrow. This time our PD is requesting that all of us stay home, they are overwhelmed and already have to get help from other PDs. If any of our townspeople show up, they will have to call in the few officers who are trying to get little time off tomorrow. PD has also been advertising for volunteers for reserve officers, they are simply overwhelmed.
So SICK of these protesters. 😡

So, if your town has good relationships with the minorities, who do you think is causing the false racist problems? Outsiders, but why? Sorry, didn't see this post until now. To my understanding this whole mess was started by 2 people. One used to live here and thinks she was treated unfairly when she was growing up due to the fact that she is *part* something other than white. (Funny thing is she moved to a nearby town that has long had racial problems.) Don't know her but I strongly suspect the problem (if there actually was a problem) is due to factors other than race. I've never seen a problem here due to skin color but sometimes people don't fit in here because *they* sport an attitude. I've heard a few people who know this gal say she is being used as a pawn in this mess. The other person is a flaming liberal, pretty sure she's new here and it sounds like she's not exactly popular. She is apparently the one who has the BLM contacts and keeps stirring the hornets nest. Quite pleased with herself after Obummer mentioned our town and said he was happy BLM was hitting little towns like ours. IMHO she's trying to get her name/face in the news. People here are highly offended that we're being called a horrible racist town. Simply lies. We judge people by their character, not skin color.
