I was thinking more like a 2x4 up side his head... True story... Walking through xray one day and a doc called out to me and asked did I want to see something interesting? Now, when a doc says interesting, it's either pretty bad or pretty funny. Sometimes both. Anyway, they had a series of xrays on the view board, from both the right and left arms of a ED patient. I'm no xray reader, but any of you could have read the VERY obvious breaks on both arms, just above the elbow. The patient claimed he had no idea what had happened. Absolutely no idea. Even after the doctor questioned him about the approximately two inch bruises which ran the width of the back of his arm, just above the elbows...

But he was aware that he had breaks, or else he would not have had x rays?
He just could not remember how, when, etc. So did he suffer from amnesia? Or was drugged up?
And what is funny about it?

What's funny is he most likely didn't want to admit that his wife beat the crud out of him with a 2x4, and probably for good reason.

More like his drug supplier of dealer, or perhaps a loan shark. You don't hold a guy down or put him up against a brick wall and break both arms for nothing.

The docs and nurses had all of the GREAT stories before the HIPPA laws ruined everything! News of which sportscaster had to have a proctologist come to Tucson Medical Center to remove a shot glass spread like wildfire, and my old doc used to sit in the barber shop in my little home town and tell tales of the last time he pumped the town drunk's stomach "just to teach him a lesson". My Uncle Paul had to race the doc to the pool hall to be the first to deliver the news that he had lost one testicle in a hernia surgery, and the obituaries used to give amazing amounts of detail as to the cause of death of the deceased. No doubt better for the patients this way, just boring for the rest of us... ....Joe

When my ex-stepson was doing his anesthesiology internship at Scott & White Hospital he told me about a guy with a gunshot wound the cops brought in. The rules are he couldn't ask the patient anything about his situation, just get a medical history. When he asked the guy what drugs he might have taken the guy said "Man, I don't even take aspirin." Step-son said the guy was so full of drugs he had to hit him with everything but the gas bottle to get him under.
