And, between 1979 and today, we have gone from honoring John Wayne and all he stood for with a congressional gold medal to the trembling, cowardly wrecks we see in the nation's capitol today.
Holy God, kindly save our nation from cowards, and instill in our leaders the same basic yearning we find in the lowliest soldier on the battlefield....the desire to "be all he can be".....because we do not require of our leaders superhuman traits.....only the unadulterated love of country and good will to make her as great as possible...nothing more than that, and nothing less.
We KNOW that with that good will on the part of our leaders, with liberty, and with thy blessing, we can lead the world to peace and prosperity, but without any one of those, we are doomed to repeat ALL of the mistakes the world has seen in the previous century.
joebill, Yes it does seem that the majority of Congress has gone from having real character to being real characters. Like the mealy mouth representative from Oklahoma who went back to his district to apologize to his black constituents for opposing the electoral vote the previous day.
