I do not like to read a book that applies to real life, I want to escape in my books. I have over 200 of books hubby got hooked on while on the road, the complete executioner series, with all the extra books. Now mine, I like Lee Child's Reacher series, but they aren't easy to find in our lil town. Might have to order! Well, anyhow, just threw this out there!

If I read fiction it’s usually based on actual events and real people, but the main characters may be fictional. Once in awhile I do find some fiction that really interests me. The Christian writer, Dee Henderson, has written some good series (like the O’Malley series). They’re more of a mystery/suspense type book. I also occasionally enjoy some old fashioned Christian romance books. Yeah...believe it or not I do have a romantic streak in me! My favorite books are true stories of heroes, usually military, LEOs, or even ordinary people who have overcome unbelievable odds to save others (or just to survive). Black Hawk Down, Lone Survivor, Unbroken, We Die Alone, The Hiding Place, are the type I like to read. They inspire me to keep going no matter how tough life gets.

Check out the Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker. I remember reading some of his books years ago and enjoying them.

The Hiding Place is very good. Especially the description of the suitcase that is too heavy to carry. That was useful and instructive.
