I see more and more food coming from oversea's. There must be some explanation. I understand some items need to come from different country's. I'm not eating mac and cheese from china, peas from Indonesia and etc. I seen some cheap wafer cookies at the dollar store that looked good, product of china. Remember the china dry-wall issue? people had to gut entire homes and re rock them.

And the more regulations being put in place for farmers, the more tainted food will come from China. Plant more garden folks!

My SIL's husband is the VP of Louisiana Farm Bureau and has toured agriculture operations in China many times.
He doesn't eat anything from China, especially any type of fish or seafood.

Look at vegetables frozen or fresh. Lettuce often comes from there. Most people just pick up what they want never looking where grown. It is flown over here to keep it fresh. The people are so enamored with cheapness that they buy particularly from China.

I'm hoping that the COVD lockdowns made people more aware of local produce and meat options. I do know more than one person who discovered the taste difference and swear they aren't going back.

Same with farmed seafood from almost anywhere. Nothing against the people in those countries but sanitation practices, etc. and knowing what’s in my food (and my dogs’) food is important to me. I’m sure I miss something on occasion but I do read labels and will go without rather than knowingly eat something questionable.

Err, anyone remember the Chinese dog food killing dogs? Yeah, like I'd eat anything they make. For sure. I research dog foods carefully and keep a close eye on recalls. I also buy way ahead, so if there is a recall, chances are I will hear about it long before my dogs eat the food that is in storage. So far so good. I feed good quality but even so, some years ago all 3 of my dogs got sick one day. Rushed them to the vet, who couldn’t prove anything but determined it almost had to be the dogfood. Switched brands and haven’t had another incident since.

Err, anyone remember the Chinese dog food killing dogs? Yeah, like I'd eat anything they make. They killed one of our dogs and injured the other. Nutramax denied that it had the Chinese gluten and so we kept feeding it to our dog. I called the company to make “sure”. The dog died directly as a result of it slowly almost a year later. Nothing we did could reverse it. So glad they went into a class action suit and lost their shirt. I didn’t bother joining it. Since then we’ve been super careful about reading ingredients. What a pain.
