Local sheriffs office was called to the river today because a partly submerged SUV was spotted by passing motorists. When they arrived they did find the vehicle and the owner was standing by. The owner claimed he did it intentionally. He advised the deputies he had changed the thermostat and needed to fill the radiator. The vehicle was towed back out of the river. No information on what they did with the driver.
And we have people like this driving down the same highway we are using.
This story is from the KIMA news department.

He had enough intelligence to replace the thermostat but couldn't figure out an easier way to put water in the radiator? I guess that goes to show that intelligence and common sense don't go hand-in-hand.

To once again quote Einstein, "The difference between ignorance and genius is there's a limit to genius."

Back in the stone age, On absurdly cold days, it was common practice to put charcoal on a garbage can lid (after it turned grey) under a tractor or car to get the oil warm enough to get the engine started. Back in the 90's I would come across a car now and then every winter that was black underneath and smelled like smoke. I would ask the customer what they did, ( I knew what it was). Every time they would say, my grandpa told me to do it. Today, I hear of one or two cars every winter that burn up in the driveway doing it. lol

In this case instead of fixing "dumb" we should put our DNA scientists to work on how to mass produce this colossal stupidity and send it gift wrapped to our worst enemies for Christmas.

My Dad used to drain the oil pan on his REO dump truck every night in the winter and pour it into gallon cans that he sat behind the living room coal stove to keep it hot. First think in the morning, the REO would crank right up and keep running. After THE war, he and his truck hauled gravel for road construction in the summers and fall and then hauled coal from Peabody mines near Terre Haute, Indiana and kept a route of customers supplied through the winters. We could drive that REO down the back roads avoiding the weigh stations at top speed (55 MPH) and prop both side doors open with our boots, open the bottom of the windshield and the air would rush in the windshield crack and out the doors, taking all of the coal dust, cigarette butts and Dentine wrappers out with it and making the cab clean inside for at least 50 miles Those are some of my earliest memories, before Dad and I went to trade the REO in, straight across, for a worn-out Nash that he could drive to work at his new job at the furniture factory. He was elated at the money he was going to make running a tube-bending machine, and we stopped off at the drug store on the way home to buy me a soda and him a nickel cigar. Had to persuade the druggist to jump-start the Nash so we could drive it home......Joe
