Back a couple weeks ago we noticed we were getting infested by gnats. After going through all our canning jars, that was time consuming, we found a jar of chili that had unsealed and we assume the source.
Anyway, once you've got gnats, they seem to never go away. Sweet Bride found a neat way of getting rid of them.
Put apple cider vinegar and a little liquid soap in a saucer. They're attracted to the cider vinegar, and can't escape the soap. After about a week, no more gnats.

I've tried the vinegar trick but didn't have sufficient success. DH found some sticky fly strips @ the dollar store and they've worked great. Nothing more frustrating that a gnat landing on your pickle when you're trying to make a sandwich.

I found that putting bleach in the drains then capping them, stopped my hatching! Glad to hear I was not the only one being pestered 🧐

Another attractant for gnats is something I found quite by accident - beer. If I set a glass of beer down for a few minutes, sure enough, there'll be a gnat in it, drowned. Apparently gnats don't swim very well.
