Now, there is so very much either wrong or missing on that study as to render it worthless.
I'll try to remember to come back to it and explain.....Joe

In my tool and die shop, holes, cut and rolled threads were pretty much my specialty.. For over the counter products for the home, hobby, the occasional user this is pretty good information
From my prospective all are very inferior to commercial, industrial products, fit and finish expectations..
I enjoyed the video... This guy does a lot of interesting things..
My 5 cents of experience and opinion...

Remember, the guy's channel is Project Farm. His reviews are based on tools and products you would find around the average person's barn or shop.

Clean forgot! To begin with, as quoth Tim Horton, these are hardware store taps, mostly made for emergency use. Mostly, they will not break as easily as high speed steel taps but will dull a WHOLE LOT SOONER! If you buy really good taps, you get to decide how tight the threaded hole will be on the bolt that is screwed into it. An explanation of H limits available at this link; www.jarviscuttingtools.com/hlimits/If you are building a puller that will have the threads operating over and over and need them to be loose and easy to operate, you may want a LOOSe or H rated tap, while if you are threading a hole subject to a lot of vibration that may shake it's bolt loose, you might want a L rated tap for a tight hole. I am not a guy who always goes for the best in much of anything, but in my mind, drills and taps are rarely over priced when made from high speed steel. You get at LEAST what you are paying for. The only advantage to carbon steel cheapo taps is you can afford to have the whole set laying around handy for emergency use. IF I have time to spare, I will leave the cheapo in the set for emergencies and order a good one to do the actual work with.....Joe
