My son-in-law can tear an anvil up with a wet noodle. So far, he's killed a generator, four weedeaters (including one of mine), three push lawnmowers (including one of mine), one riding mower and lost a bucket full of my tools (I only let him borrow the cheap ones). There is a reason he works for the post office.
Most of his small engine problems can be traced to fuel problems. He won't do what I tell him to do, which is:
1. Do not buy gas for the cans that contains ethanol. 2. Do not use that gas for anything after 30 days other than starting fires, unless you treat the gas with a stabilizer. 3. Treat your gas with Pri-G. 4. Put cut-offs on your fuel lines and starve your motor instead of bitting the kill switch.
Fixing the latest death, means replacing the carb on a 125cc Briggs. I looked at it today. Y'all...That engine has a plastic carburetor. Plastic, I say.
Darndest thing I've ever seen...

Everyone has a gift, even a natural born 'killer' and it looks like he's found his, lol. Although that last part worries me a little.

Buy low end push mowers and get low end usage. There is nothing wrong with the carb, it needs a 20 minute bath in a ultra sonic cleaner with simple green cleaner, or spend $26 on a new carb today, and every year you own it. If you want a quality push mower to last, you need to spend $400-600 on a Honda or Toro. Your handheld equipment should be echo or sthil @ the $250 price and up (for a saw)

Never run into one of the plastic carburetors yet... There is a bunch of you tube vids by a woman called Chickcanic or close to that.. She is a small engine person who seems very good at it, and produces useful videos..
Seems every family has one that can wreck an anvil with a marshmallow..
