Yep she is right. We always remolded the exhaust on our saws never set a woods on fire yet. One timber cutter I knew would send a new saw to a custom saw shop to get it ported and polished along with a new exhaust before using it. This added more horsepower too. Those saws would hit a mean lick idling. I think the Co was called Walker. This made for a lighter saw with maximum horsepower.

The oil is not so much the problem, as much of the oil is probably made in the same place just rebranded for Stihl or echo. With the stihl weed whip in the video, take the exhaust port out and cut off the end of the screen and reinstall. One word of caution, for some reason wasp's love the stihl exhaust ports on those weed whips.

I've run the Stihl ultra without problems, but my two-cycle motors are on chainsaws, a Mantis tiller and one generator. On all of those, they don't get lugged.

I would agree with what she has to say about Stihl oil... I have run it since day 1 in my little MS 170 saw.. In 5, almost 6 years I have never changed a spark plug ....knock on wood... But either one or both, spring and fall I clean or replace the little brass screen in the exhaust... It has run flawlessly....
Never run a Johnny pop.... Yes everything it has it does at 1000 rpm... What ever it does, you just stick on that seat and let it pop its way through...

I have 4 Stihl units in the barn. I buy the commercial versions because they get used a lot. In our worst winters, we still trim hedges and whack weeds every week. And I've been replacing the units about every two years because they die. Jolly, I think you might have just saved me hundreds of dollars.

Sounds right to me. We used to clean our pipe and bong screens the same way when they got clogged. lol

I've never purchased Stihl oil because it is too pricey and I don't own a Stihl. My 2-stroke engines are Jonsered, Echo, and Dolmar. With that said, I do use name brand oil. I have two 6-packs of Echo oil in the garage right now.
